Bidvest Wits will be taking up the option of another year on Sifiso Vilakazi's contract after the striker's proposed move to AmaZulu fell through.

AmaZulu had been so keen on Vilakazi that they had already agreed on a transfer with Wits but the player turned down the move choosing to remain in Johannesburg.

Wits will now be taking up the option of another season on the 32 year-old's contract.

Roger de Sa, the Wits coach confirms that they will be exercising the option.

"We will be exercising the option of another year on Sifiso's contract this week," says De Sa.

The coach adds that they will also be extending the contacts of Asive Langwe, Miguel Timm while Brad Phillips has already agreed to a new three year deal.

KickOff.com has found out that the contracts of Timothy Batabaire and David de Oliviera are unlikely to be extended upon their expiry in June while veteran midfielder Stanton Fredericks' future will only be decided on in June.

Meanwhile, De Sa also adds that they are keen on signing Zimbabwean midfielder Trevor Mutero in July.

Mutero spent 10 days training with Wits early this month and has since left.

"Trevor doesn't have great skill but he can definitely play in the PSL as he is direct and knows what to do all the time. We have already told the people that brought him to the club that we can only sign him in July. In the meantime we will wait and hear what they have to say," says De Sa.
