Mulenga: Zambia up for Libya challenge

Posted: 2012-01-25 13:26

Clifford Mulenga believes Zambia will continue their good form this evening against Libya.

The midfielder says they have put Saturday's 2-1 win against Senegal behind them and their focus is now on today's Africa Cup of Nations battle against Libya at Estadio de Bata. Kick-off is at 18h00.

"We wanted to win our first game at all costs and put pressure on teams we are competing against in our group. We did that. But that's behind us now. We have a great game to look forward to against Libya. I believe we have a huge psychological advantage over them. They will be more cautious coming into this fixture," Mulenga tells KickOff.com.

"We are ready for Libya. The morale is sky high in the camp. We played them in the Afcon qualifiers so we know them pretty well. But we are going to approach this match differently from our previous meeting.

"They have a few players who can cause problems for us, but we are not too worried about them. We have a good plan up our sleeve for them. We have studied their game and will expose their weaknesses," he adds.

Zambia are perched at the top of Group A with three points from one game. Breathing down their necks are hosts Equatorial Guinea with the same number of points. Senegal and Libya are sitting third and fourth on the log with no points.

Another match today will see Equatorial Guinea cross swords with Senegal at Estadio De Bata, kicking off at 21h00.
