Steve Komphela can join Kaizer Chiefs says Mike Mokoena

'Komphela free to join Chiefs'

Posted: 2012-01-25 13:06

Free State Stars boss Mike Mokoena says he will not stand in coach Steve Komphela's way if he wants to join Kaizer Chiefs.

Komphela has been touted as a possible replacement for Vladimir Vermezovic, whose contract at Naturena expires at the end of the season.

"I have heard about those rumours and have told him to clarify this issue with the TV and the papers," Mokoena says.

"He is our coach, but I won't stop him if he wants to go. However, he must tell us."

Mokoena adds that they won't be selling any players during the transfers window amid rumours that Ayanda Gcaba and Mzikayise Mashaba could be heading to Gauteng.

"No player is for sale. For the record, no team has approached us regarding these two players. I think all this news is aimed at destabilising the team," he says.

HAVE YOUR SAY: Do you think Komphela can do the job at Chiefs?

chiefs is too big for him,so NO is the answer

That man knows football like a palm of his hand and a team like Kaizer Chiefs is easy to coach if u know your story well as a coach a its tradition

Kickoff!they won't be selling "any" player during this transfer?but u guys have reported the sale of Matlaba to Pirates.

Coming back to the topic:It is evident that VV must go to & die for his 1st love, his country & new manager must be brought in.

Motaung Family never believe in a black man, whether is running of the team or in their projects.

The last full time black coach at Chiefs was Wiseman Mbale who won BP Top 8 & subsequently got fired after that.

That was followed by temporary coaching of Terror Sephooa,Doctor & Ace Khuse.

Steve Khompela has done well for Free Stars on his 2 stints at the team but he struggled with Platinum Stars.

Personally I think his should be given a chance at Chiefs & KC Family should start opening to blacks from him.

Wandile : 2012-01-25 13:27

Just like Midderndorp and to a degree VV, Kpmphela will be set up for failure. How do you coach if you don't have players.

He must go there on condition of signing a minimum of 7 players of his choice. Otherwise he will insulted by Chiefs hooligans who are fooled by Bobby "we don't believe in buying" and his hard built legacy will be tainted forever.

netshianane leonard : 2012-01-25 13:33

i think kompela is de ryt man 4 chiefs.we cnt a league with vv,so local is lekker.

Totalfootball : 2012-01-25 13:40

Tichere nthute ke tswane le wena.Steve is a gentleman and I think he can make a good coach at Natu-zoo!
I like the way he speaks english,to me he is more of a politician than a football coach!maybe he should try to be a SAFA president!

Khosi4ever : 2012-01-25 13:41

He can do the job if he can listen to fans view and not be arrogant or stubborn like VV.

btsaanang : 2012-01-25 13:49

Khopela is a good coach he just need a chance and support then he do the job for u. Yes he has the best qoulity.

scolly : 2012-01-25 13:51

I think Kompela will make a good impact at chiefs & put it back in da competition next season

Disco: 2012-01-25 13:55

VV is the right Coach for any team. He’s doing well at Chiefs; some people and fans are just frustrated by the winning Orlando Pirates team.

Don’t look at other ladies when you walk with you wife. Especially since its Pirates that have a beautiful wife.

This is similar to what Madrid fans are going through. They forgot that they had their turn.

You can never win everything all the time

Dr_Prof_(Soccer Analyst_Anti-KickOff and Soccer Laduma): 2012-01-25 13:56

They have tried very hard to bring down VV and since that plan backfired, now they are marketing Steve Khomphela for KC

 : 2012-01-25 14:01

He talks 2 much but no action, he should consider a career to be a motivation speaker cos he can select words en he's good at it

Rudzani: 2012-01-25 14:07

VV goes nowhere it is time SA media stop fulling soccer fans, apart from the captaincy incident what has VV done wrong, our team has just not been managed properly by both motoung senior and Bobby. always selling and buying when will the coach find his winning team. i lost hope when we sold musona, pucnh and nahayo yes i will say this until the end of the season. they tempered with his team he built in his second season now he must go bcoz of ncobo missfiring and tau being a crybaby no no no. @KICKOFF, RATS, FLOPS i can bet by my memebership to KC VV goes nowhere he is the right coach for us. steve kompela failed u-23's, fss, platunum stars in what grounds is he joining chiefs maybe bcoz he is black. what kind of football does steve prefer? i would rather if need be give the team to Ace and rope Doctor as team manager and Lucas as technical adviser no more chancers at naturena. if vv goes ace must take over...........finish and klaar my hands are clean

Rudzani: 2012-01-25 14:09

well said @ Dr prof SA soccer wants sobber people like you.

Milestone-aka-Da~Sh!t: 2012-01-25 14:09

I respect Steve as a coach, but coaching Kaizer Chiefs won't be a very wise move since he likes to give excuses after loosing games. So it's a big NO from me too. Not that my vote would count or be considered....

Papi : 2012-01-25 14:17

I believe that steve is the best coach and can do it at any team in South africa.

sadawana : 2012-01-25 14:17

@rudzani its good for sa soccer that they r zebras supporters who think wisely like u i cn c u don boo yo players in the stadia cmon guyz who to blame between kaizer senior & bobby whos team is this isnt kaizer suppose to hv a last say lets think wisely guyz for the benefite of sa soccer

ayanda nesi : 2012-01-25 14:19

Steve & Tovey they can do a good job for us, both they know the culture of KCF

TP : 2012-01-25 14:19

Rudzani!VV won't be coaching @ Chiefs next season.I will remind u when that happens.

The wrongs that he has done is to be unable to get the consistency on the team.Today the wins, next week lose & the other week draw.

Having been given 3 years & still can't get things right.

Even if Motaung family are not buying players if I'm a coach I won't sacrifice my intergrity with that because at the end of the day what counts is results.

TP : 2012-01-25 14:31

Rudzani! The old shot,Mr know all man called Ted Dumitru won the league for Chiefs twice in succession & his contract was not renewed.

In comparison,Vladimir failed to achieve half of that in 3yrs.

brazilitto : 2012-01-25 14:32

Dis zebras don't want a black man to coach dis team.
Either than that the zebra farm is about to experience rebellion

Ganadlha: 2012-01-25 14:39

@Disco,
well said baba.hope your Zebra farm fans can understand that your turn will come.an VV is still the better coach so far.just he decive you by choosing his family n country 1&2.

Eddie: 2012-01-25 14:47

He is just going to confuse the players with his bombastic english vocabulary.

Dooba OPC: 2012-01-25 15:05

Steve is good for Chiefs- he believes in the blend of experience and youth- plus he makes too much noise that we will hear him during transfer periods. lately we hear nothing from VV concerning new signings; all we ever heard was Habbas the Zim and a series of condolences (no offence to the departed!)!

danny da dog : 2012-01-25 15:13

Steve is best 4 dis job

Thabo: 2012-01-25 15:20

For the sole reason that Mr. Khompela has been @ KC as both a player & assitant coach, I'll say he's got a fair chance to be considered as the next best thing to have ever happaned to the club. He was intrumental in identifying Jabu Pule & Patrick Mbuthu for the 1st team when their talent was wasted in the development team. I believe continuity is the best approach in soccer. If the shoes fits, then why not wear them. Striking while the iron is still hot flattens the slab. I long to see Steve as coach, Neil Tovey as Assistant, Lucas Radebe as team manager, Dr. Khumalo & Tsitsiki as scouts whilst Shoes & 10111 take over the reigns as development coaches.

Gee: 2012-01-25 15:29

I like Steve and personally I think he can do well at chiefs but changing the driver of an E20 and replacing him with a ferrari driver will not make the E20 run as fast as the ferrari. Let me go back to my corner.

scooby : 2012-01-25 16:13

Didn't the chairperson of the family business say that chips will never be coached by a local coach?

dove162: 2012-01-25 16:51

of course he will do the job with no problems.

mxhosisto : 2012-01-25 17:01

Well he could be a very suitable replacement in as far as south African football is concerned, the thing with chiefs is too much foreigners are given the domintaion and that just doesn't win us anything, instead they get to be scouted and live the stupid club with no trophy

I am more than confident that if Komphela joins us , we will see more of our bloods and who knows? We might have done ourselves justice

Ba bolaye BUCS: 2012-01-25 18:33

Kuru, could go to chips if he wants to. i mean is gonna be same. Zim machancers, nearly retired players and dysfuntional development playas. huh thats Chips FC 4 u.

The Game : 2012-01-25 19:12

Steve Khompela talks too much: and Chiefs must send their players for night school-otherwise.......kuzoshuba

Karabo phoffa : 2012-01-25 19:12

Komphela is a good and expirienced coach bt his not good enough to coach the soweto giants kaizer chiefs. He might be good at coaching but he cannot handle chiefs

Arafat SportsTalk : 2012-01-25 20:53

Lol! The combination of Khompela nd Tsekeleke(Bobby) will run chfs 2 d ground. Its gonna b so hilarious

Dennis : 2012-01-25 21:58

No, he dsnt wrth it nd its biga dan hs mnd.

fire: 2012-01-25 22:40

@ The Game Kwaaaa! Kwaaaa! KwAAAAHHHHH!

Uthi kuzobanjani baba!

Steve can relate to Zebra culture, afterall, he was at a farm, and is said to be good friends with Bobby. Who knows, he might just be able to bombard them so much that they buy players to avoid embarrassment. Do you honestly believe Mike Mokoena understands Khompela's report?

lombard : 2012-01-26 04:46

indeet he can 4 khose

Khulekani : 2012-01-26 05:56

smallz: 2012-01-26 08:31

For record,no black coach will ever be employed at Chips as coach. In their history only Dr.was afforded opportunity for short spell.Kaizer Snr got frustrated when Ace forms ace Mates together with the likes of Banks/Comp/Malombo , since then he never trusted ex players

Doctor was not the only black person to coach Chiefs.

Please read my previous posts on this same article & u'll see other black coaches to have been at Chiefs.
