Boye believes he has made his case

Ghana defender John Boye feels he has done enough to convince his doubters he deserves his national team place after a good game in the Nations Cup tie against Botswana.

The Stade Rennes man played a superb game in defence alongside John Mensa and capped a brilliant even with a spectacular goal line clearance to deny Botswana their clearest goal scoring opportunity.

Boye was picked to provide central defensive cover given the uncertainty over Mensah and the suspension of Vorsah and feels he did enough to justify his inclusion.

He said: "I knew with people watching I needed to prove my qualities and I think I did. It was a difficult game but all that matters is that we got a positive result."

With both Mensah and Vorsah now suspended, Boye will become even more central to the team's plans.
