Zambia coach Herve Renard says Collins Mbesuma has showed great humility in camp at the Africa Nations Cup, despite him being overlooked for the first match.
The Golden Arrows striker was an unused player in Zambia's opening Africa Cup Group A game against Senegal on January 21 in Bata, which Chipolopolo won 2-1.
Renard said he was impressed with the maturity displayed by Mbesuma after the decision not to start or play him in Zambia's opening match against Senegal.
"I told Collins Mbesuma that he will not play in the evening (Against Senegal)," Renard said.
"He was one of the first players in the morning (after the game) who set the tempo in the singing of the songs for the team."
Renard reiterated that team unity was important if Zambia was to go far in the Africa Cup as the team seeks its second successive Africa Cup quarterfinal appearance.
"Sometimes a player wants to play but it is difficult. With team spirit like this you can go to war," he said.
Meanwhile, Zambia faces their former 2012 Africa Cup Group C qualifier opponents Libya on January 25 in both sides' penultimate Group A match at the Estadio de Bata.
Renard's side leads Group A on 3 points, Equatorial Guinea are second on the same number of points while Libya and Senegal have zero points in third and fourth places respectively.
