Downs make another offer for Myeni

Posted: 2012-01-24 11:40

In strange twist of events, Mamelodi Sundowns have made an offer to Bidvest Wits for the services of want-away midfielder Sifiso Myeni.

Myeni: 'I want to leave Wits'
“At Downs careers go down” – Myeni

Myeni has recently been reported to have attracted the interest of the so-called big teams, but Wits mentor Roger de Sa reveals big-spending Sundowns are the only club to have made an offer.

"Besides the Sundowns offer we have not received anything for the player," de Sa says, although he refuses to reveal the figures.

"He has been talking to them and it now depends on him whether he accepts the offer or not. We do not have a say on that one. However, he has been good and has been open with me regarding the discussions."

If it sails through, the move will be a surprise, considering Myeni's comments last year, when he told KickOff.com he was not contemplating a move to Downs:

"When you go to Sundowns your career goes down and I don't want to be one of the victims."

At the time, however, Sundowns were without a coach, and Myeni, perhaps wisely, also queried who was signing players at that stage: "For me it is better to go to a team where the coach wants you, not where team managers or bosses like you, because what will happen if the new coach comes and doesn’t like you?"

Myeni, who is returning to action after eight weeks of injury, and star left-back Patrick Phungwayo have been much speculated about during the January transfer window, but De Sa says they have not received an offer for the latter.

De Sa adds that other than Myeni and Phungwayo, Wits are not willing to sell any of their players.

Ehh Banna!!! Whats wrong with Sfiso "@ Downs career go down" Myeni? Now you scared because you realised that injury can end a career and now you deciding to join the Yellow Nation because you need lota bucks... I understand Mfana, with downs you'll never b bunkrapt even if you injured. Kabo Yellow

Sho Sky Up! We can therefore conclude that it's a done deal.....hard cash briefcases failed with Pelembe, so no stress from the narcotics front. mh.

KING?: 2012-01-24 12:00

all the best ntwana, u could have joined Chiefs, they need more than Sundowns.

There is also a possibility of warming the bench at Sundowns.

Totalfootball : 2012-01-24 12:04

De Sa is trying to be smart and force Sundowns to pay a transfer fee for a player who is 6 months off his contract and because this Sundowns management have a tendency of abusing Motsepe's money this think its wise to sign him outright, but since it has gone down to personal terms with player.its everybody's game frankly speaking you cannot pay over 150k a month salary and not even Sundowns will risk paying that much for Myeni.sure we will watch and see.

FISTOS: 2012-01-24 12:08

King Don: 2012-01-24 12:13

Idiots always ignore this statement: "For me it is better to go to a team where the coach wants you, not where team managers or bosses like you, because what will happen if the new coach comes and doesn’t like you?" which was spoken in the same paragraph with the "career go down" one.

We Downs supporters wants you, irrespective of what you said. Rooney once said Man United are no longer attracting top stars and their ambitions are not clear, but fans have already forgotten that after his signature. So join in and start to cash in, irrespective of your injury. With you, the destination of the league and nedbank trophies is clear.

Trio moves to Platinum Stars
Posted on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 - 11:53

Orlando Pirates has agreed to release Lucas Thwala, Chiukepo Msowoya and Patrick Malokase to Platinum Stars for the rest of the season.

The trio have seen little game time since the arrival of Julio Leal. This move is considered a win-win as the players will gain regular game time at their new club.

KING?: 2012-01-24 12:25

If Chiefs fails to close this deal, then they must just forget about everything this season and hope that RMB approves an LTL with an exposure of R50MILLION to manage operations.

Guys Kaizer Snr was not playing when he promulgated that the club had financial difficulties. The sale of Musona was a way of injecting cash into the business n Punch n Nahayo, no club or company sell its assets unless its life span is due.

Wandile : 2012-01-24 12:28

Much as I don't doubt Sifiso's ability but I think acquiring will be over doing it. I believe we have the core of our team and our focus now should be promting lads from the development and blinding them with the senior.

Watching All Spuks Dwawa the other day, all I saw was pure SHOE-SHINE-PIANO talent, needing fine-combing hier n daar.

Contrary to popular belief, we all know that there is one, to a degree two people who always get what they want: MORENA Motsepe and SIR Neeskens.

Wandile : 2012-01-24 12:31

Wish Sifiso can go Chiefs for the sake of competition.

I am not trying to be funny or sarcastic gents mara I must ask this ask: IS CHIEFS BANKRUPT OR ARE THE MOTAUNGS HORDING MONEY FOR THEMSELVES? Something just doesn't seem right here.

KING?: 2012-01-24 12:41

Wandile: U making sense boss, Kaizer Snr did declare that his team is facing stif financial challenges, the withdrawal of Pri-media just costed Kaizer a lot of money.

It will take Chiefs about 15 years to be where they where before, i mean the closing of the development makes it even worse.

TP : 2012-01-24 12:42

Couple of weeks ago I praised Sundowns for doing away with signing a new team every season & today I will retract my statement.Modise,Pelembe,Mokoena,Kekana,Moriri,Laffor,Langerman,Zwane,Myeni.Off this 9 players who's career will be destroyed first?

On the side lines you have Nyandoro,Nyatamaa & others.

Those that have careers destroyed already include:Vilakazi,Ndlela,DhlaDhla,Ramokala,Mmotongg,Ngwenya etc.

My problem with Sundowns is trying to sign all the players but after that this players don't see out their contracts or don't have their contracts renewed.

What about development at Puk Tawana?Signing big names is not a problem if its on manageable level & blending them with development players for continuity.

Sundowns is totally having a wrong approach & I thought having Johan Neeskens at the helm
Will strengthen youth policy but the same philosophy that failed this team is still the core strategy.

Rudzani: 2012-01-24 12:46

@wandile i wonder what copetition you are talking about bcoz the same flops are trophieless for four years so we will never compete in buying players for no reason. what are you going to do with laffor, myeni, mokoena, pelembe, e.t.c

vutomim@gmail.com: 2012-01-24 12:47

it is indeed true, chiefs are broke.

I tried not 2 believe after after seeing players walk away with only R5000 in the awards but now it is visible even 4 d die hard that they are broke. Fans of Khosi let fill in the stadium maybe and boost the finances of this dying legend

galaxyofstars: 2012-01-24 12:54

Why now u signing for sundowns? Journalist ask Myeni "I was quoted out of context"

Dooba OPC: 2012-01-24 13:27

Myeni wont accept- I know I wouldnt... this is the smartest player we have at the moment, and it is easy to confuse cleverness with big-headedness.

Donald Duck: 2012-01-24 13:38

we def broke, bobsteak has smoked all de money. We are inactive in de transfer market and it's not gud @all. Myeni should have been signed by chiefs but dey busy folding their hands. Snr must do something about de state of affairs in our team, not gud at all....

Balotelli: 2012-01-24 13:50

Chiefs will soon be like Swallows...!
They are using PSL grand to pay Khune...!

Am a Khosi by Default

kagisobk@gmail.com: 2012-01-24 14:27

I don't think our beloved Team can sign Myeni. Will we able to afford Him? at Naturena Football is business.. Bobby will rather settle for cheap labor frm Zim Quantity than buying ZAR quality that is why our Football is not improving.....
Just imagin player of the season winning R90K, Simphiwe get R5K voucher while he was sweating for his life....
This is disgrace some people need prayers....

Dooba OPC: 2012-01-24 15:34

I really start to believe we are broke (but not MC Hummer broke!)- what are these austerity measures for if we still have the cash. The culture at Chiefs has changed dramatically since Guluva decided to be a senior citizen. We used to be the number contenders in the flea market of the best players, today we have only reported one Zim player... and what is VV saying...
