Sundowns abandon Molangoane bid

Mamelodi Sundowns have stopped trying to sign Platinum Stars midfielder Joseph Molangoane, who is now likely to remain where he is.
Molangoane was linked with a move to Sundwons during the time that the Chloorkop-based club was not sure that Mozambican international Elias Pelembe would extend his contract with them.
With Pelembe now having decided to remain at Sundowns, the club does not see the need to acquire the services of Molangoane, who is also an attacking midfielder.
Platinum Stars general manager Jason Raine - who previously told KickOff.com that the club would only sell Molangoane for the "right price" - says Sundowns have ruled out a formal bid for the midfielder.
"I talked to Harold Legodi (Sundowns assistant coach) and they said they are not going to bid for Molangoane," says Raine.
"Maybe they were interested in him because I also read such reports but we do not know for sure. What I can tell you is that the player will remain with us," Raine adds.
Meanwhile, Platinum Stars will not be offering Zambian central defender Dennis Banda a contract after he failed to impress coach Owen Da Gama during trials.
"We fielded the player against Ghana so that I could have a look at how he would perform under pressure.
"To be honest, he is not what I was looking for so he will be going back home," says Da Gama.
Meanwhile Sundowns have loaned out former youth international striker Meshack Ramahuma to his home town club Bay United straight after agreeing to Papi Zothwane joining Bloemfontein Celtic on loan.
Ramahuma will be at Bay – who are based in Polokwane – for the rest of the season.
Also being loaned out by Sundowns is Phetolo Lebepe who has been moved to another first division club Blackburn Rovers straight after signing his professional contract with The Brazilians.
The club also announces that Tshepo Ramokala will he heading to Maritzburg United for a trial that could also lead to a loan move for the 29 year-old.
Meanwhile, the club has agreed to extend Matthew Pattison’s trials at Leeds United up to January 24 after a request from the English Championship club.
Sundowns are also looking at sending out Koketso Mmotong, Lionel Mutizwa, and Lucky Nguzana on loan before the closure of the transfer window next week.
