Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba is pleased with the outcome of their Africa Cup of Nations game against Sudan, in which his goal allowed the Elephants to open their campaign with a victory.

The Afcon favourites defeated the Falcons of Jediane 1-0 in Malabo thanks to Drogba's 39th minute header.

"In an opening match, the most important thing is to take the three points," said the striker when referring to the victory over the east Africans.

"We will concentrate on putting a nice display within the next few days," he told OrangeSport.

The Elephants' coach Francois Zahoui supported his captain's statements when he said, "People always expect to witness some fireworks with Ivory Coast, but it's the Africa Cup of Nations, it's very difficult, and our aim is to gain the final victory."

The man in charge of the Ivory Coast national team is aiming to up their performances as the tournament progresses.

"I watched Equatorial Guinea's win as well as Senegal's troubles; we did a specific type of training too in order to gradually improve as the competition goes further on," said the trainer.
