Overseas round-up

Bradley Grobler and Calvin Kadi were both on target on Sunday, Andrew Surman's Norwich held Chelsea 0-0, while there were five South Africans on the pitch as Lokeren beat Lierse in Belgium.

Grobler netted the equaliser in a 1-1 draw with Denizlispor, but Goztepe are still languishing near the relegation zone of the Turkish second division.

Kadi converted from the penalty-spot for his fifth goal in nine starts for Veria, in their 1-1 away draw against Kallithea, and the club remain in second place on the Greek second-tier log.

Dino Ndlovu came off in the second half in Israel, as Bnei Yehuda defeated Hapoel Rishon LeZion 1-0 at home, to move up to sixth on the log, but Bevan Fransman remains sidelined at Hapoel Tel Aviv.

Bafana Bafana skipper Steven Pienaar played the final few minutes for Tottenham Hotspur in their 3-2 loss at Manchester City.

On Friday night, Anele Ngcongca played for Belgian side Genk as they defeated 10-man Sint Truiden 2-1, another unconvincing performance for the champions.

On Saturday, Darren Keet's frustrating time in Belgium continued as he was again relegated to the bench for Kortrijk's 1-0 loss at Anderlecht. Keet shares the keeping duties with Kristof van Hout at the club and has failed to get a regular run of games under his belt.

Meanwhile, four South Africans featured in Lokeren's 2-0 home win over Lierse. Youngster Ayanda Patosi was a half-time substitute for Lokeren and provided them with the attacking impetus needed in the second half to score twice.

On the other side of the pitch, Daylon Claasen, Lance Davids and Siboniso Gaxa all started for Lierse, with only Davids not finishing the match.

Tsepo Masilela made his fourth start in a row for Spanish La Liga side Getafe as they won 2-1 at Real Zaragoza. The 26-year-old finally looks to be over his injury problems and will be hopeful of playing out the remainder of the season in the starting line-up.

Andrew Surman gave a lively performance for Norwich City on the left-wing as they held Chelsea to a 0-0 draw at Carrow Road in the English Premier League.

Not one of South Africa's contingent in the English Championship feature for their clubs, with Kagisho Dikgacoi (Crystal Palace) rested for Tuesday's crucial Carling Cup semi-final, second leg, against Cardiff City. Palace lead 1-0 from the home leg.

Aaron Mokoena (Portsmouth) has an injured hamstring, while Bongani Khumalo (Reading) and Kgosi Nthle (Peterborough United) were not selected.

Could someone school me. How good is this Andrew Surman guy, that the media is pressuring Pitso to include in BB? Would he add value?

Surman is actually a good player. Covers every blade of grass from midfield and likes to get forward. He's got a good engine on him. I think he'd do a good job for Bafana but, in the interview I read with him just before the 2010 World Cup, he said he has never been approached by SAFA. He did say he'd be interested in playing for Bafana though.

Mr editor where is the score here; I know for sure that Portsmouth won this game because the weakest link was missing (Mokoena).

This is another example SAFA and its technical team is showing their stupid, incompetancy as a result of that the country suffers. we new about how good this guy is way back before the 2010 world cup, but was never given a chance, till today no mention of him.
their failing even to scout for talent in our own back yard, another recent example is May Mahlangu. I wonder how long are we going to tolerate this idiocy.I watched the game Surman played against Chelsea and he was a marvel to watch, and i kept thinking the difference he might have brought during world cup, he might have cancelled Peanut's off form during that tornament, but its water under the bridge now we demand SAFA to give the nation something to be happy about that is everybody to resign from their cubicles lets rebuild SA pride infact WE the people if given the powers and allowed to vote can sellect and put people who are competant knows what they are doing.

khumalo come back home boy, we dont want to lose your talent. PSL is big

I fully agree with comrade Sox, SAFA has been failing the nation long enough. I wold suggest opening a Facebook page, where all of us can join and raise our opinion.
Surman has always been around since his Southamton days.......never called up. Surman is just an example of lot of South African players scattered around the globe not even being looked at. We as the supporters ultimately suffers, cause we have to rely on these mediocre players like Teko company......Enough is Enough.
the current SAFA administration must go.......along with that racist Pitso who always want to prove his "local is lekka" point! ( that's the reason why we not at AFCON 2012 )
