Da Gama: Ghana showed me our weaknesses

Platinum Stars coach Owen da Gama says he was able to identify some of his team's weaknesses during the practice match against the Black Stars of Ghana.
Stars lost 2–0 to the Africa Cup of Nations-bound Ghana in a match that was played away from the public glare behind closed doors at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace.
Da Gama, who says he is not concerned about the result, says both the players and the technical department learnt some hard lessons from Africa's second ranked team.
"It was a great experience for us because it is not every day that you get to play against one of the best sides in Africa which, in my view has a very strong chance of winning the Africa Cup of Nations," da Gama tells KickOff.com.
"They have a quality side and it is now clear that we have to tighten things up at the back. Our defence needs to be more compact so that we have a better chance of getting good results," adds the Platinum Stars coach.
"We fielded two different teams in each half so all the players benefited from the match. Ghana showed me our weaknesses and in the end they won by a good margin. I am not totally disappointed because you have to put that result into context."
Da Gama – who hopes the club will succeed in acquiring Sthembiso Ngcobo from Kaizer Chiefs – says his strikers should show more aggression upfront.
"We must be more hungry to score goals and I hope we can address this before the season starts," says the well travelled coach.
Platinum Stars will be away to Ajax Cape Town on February 15 when the League matches resume before they host Orlando Pirates three days later at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace.
