Manqana: 'I haven't signed with Pirates'

Posted: 2012-01-20 09:53

Angry and bewildered Njabulo Manqana has dropped a bombshell: he has not signed for Orlando Pirates, despite the club's claims.

The Golden Arrows midfielder tells KickOff.com that he was given money to travel to Johannesburg but, other than that, he has been left in the dark.

"I don’t know what is going on here," 'Nyoka' says. "I was given a ticket to come to Joburg and train with Pirates and the next thing I hearI have signed with the team, even though I haven't signed anything. I'm confused.

"I'm training with the team but I don't know what's going on. When I called the owner of Golden Arrows [Mato Madlala] her phone was off. Now I'm on my way to training to speak to a person called Screamer [Tshabalala] because I want this issue clarified."

Lindani Shezi, the player's agent, was unaware of any deal for the player and says he is waiting for Madlala to speak to him about any possible transfer.

This despite the fact that both Thabo Matlaba and Manqana were confirmed as Bucs players on the club's official website days ago.

It appears someone in the Pirates offices has jumped the gun in their eagerness to unveil Manqana but, when contacted by KickOff.com, Pirates administrator Senzo Mazingiza insisted the player is already a Pirates man.

"We have unveiled Njabulo Manqana because he is our player – I can't tell you the details of the contract though," Mazingiza says.

And, to further muddy the waters, Free State Stars claim that one of their players, also recently unveiled as a Buccaneer, has not signed either.

Stars PRO Lebohang Moketa says he is unaware that Thabo Matlaba has been signed by Pirates, despite media reports to the contrary.

"Thabo Matlaba has not signed with Pirates; it's all speculation from the media. We read about the story in the media and our management knows nothing about the story," Moketa says.

"Thabo Matlaba is still our player and there haven't been talks between ourselves and Pirates regarding the player."

Update: Thabo Matlaba and his agent insist he has signed for Orlando Pirates!

gotze: 2012-01-20 10:09

wat is this now, this is very confusing especially since we read the news khona laKwikickoff sayn he had signed. lol Mantos phone was off because she was busy with "someone." and why didn Manqana get a lift from Manto cz uhlez eyakwaToothless? is Manqana also being offered 9000r, a Family house and 30000 signi fee?

Dooba OPC: 2012-01-20 10:12

When we say the Swop deal between the sheets people think we are insulting them; when we call someone the mafia people think we are being insensitive to brilliant man. When we say swap deal fc is run by mickey mouse, who by the way is much more of the bigger rat than the owner of this public organisation, people say we are just zebras. Ke tse o ge!

So Manqana you were a pawn prize in the game of chess between Mato and the mafia himself, and like any mafia, by hook or crook the mafia won that game... now you have to live with it for the rest of your football career!

I wonder what PSL and FIFA will do about this. This is pure slavery. Wenger was right about this Jan transfer window. It always causes problems for teams.

Maybe FIFA needs to also scrap this swop deal nonsense. Players must stop being treated like merchandise; especially since they have no choice in the matter. This trade in nonsense is not an acceptable practice.

DR MAMPURU: 2012-01-20 10:45

MANQANA IS A GOOD ACQUISITION HE PLAYS IN THE MID-FIELD AND CAN PLAY AS A WINGER BUT FOR ME IF PIRATES CAN BUY PHUNGWAYO INSTEAD OF A MID-FIELD THAT THEY WOULD TURN INTO A STRIKER HAI ITS NOT GONNA WORK, RATHER BUY HIM AND FORGET ABOUT MYENI CAUSE HE PLAYS ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE AND WE HAVE KLATE, TLOU AND BESTER SO FOR ME BUYING HIM WILL SIGNAL ONE PLAYER BEING SOLD

In an exclusive interview with
Orlandopiratesfc.com yesterday,
Wesley Ntshangase, revealed his desire
to play for the black and white of
Orlando Pirates.
Vieira, who is a product of the Orlando
Pirates Development Academy, is at the
centre of a club versus club tussle over
his services. According to Soccerladuma
website, the player was spotted in
Naturena this week. Surprisingly on
Monday morning, he was at Virgin
Active training with the defending
champions.
“It’s been great,” said the youngster,
referring to his time training with the
first team.
“Initially I thought I would struggle to
blend in with the senior guys but it was
the opposite because they have been
very supportive. They treat me like
they’ve always known me.
“The head coach (Julio Cesar Leal) has
also been very supportive. In fact, when
he was still at (Moroka) Swallows he
wanted to lure me away from the club.
Though he is yet to sign a professional
contract, Vieira has made it no secret
about where his heart is.
“Having tasted first team life, nothing
will make me happier than to seal a
professional contract with Pirates.
There are some top coaches of top
teams trying to lure me (he shows
Orlandopiratesfc.com a text message
from a rival team)...and as a youngster
sometimes I get very confused on what
to do.
Nonetheless, I love Pirates and my
dream is to start my professional
career here-especially, as this is where I
was groomed years ago,” concluded
Ntshangase.

Bobby Motaung is reportedly touting one of the best wingers in the PSl in Sifiso Myeni pending the approval of Standard Bank loan he made on Monday. This is seen as a direct replacement of Shabba who is looking for greener pastures. A loan had to be made in order to assist in Myeni's bid as Shabba would be leaving in 5 months time as a free agent.

kwakwakwakwakwa! talk of deals that are signed on BED in formular1 hotel!

Mgugudi: The Treble Addict: 2012-01-20 11:43

The article & the utterances attributed to Manqana raise a few questions of my own.

Why did he go to jo’burg in the 1st place since Arrows is based in Durban?

If he went there to join Pirates why didn’t he ask his manager to start the contract negotiations?

Why was Mr. Lindani Shezi, the player's agent not aware of the player’s whereabouts as the matter was extensively reported in the media?

Didn’t Manqana’s link with Pirates mean that there is a deal on the cards?

And what did he do thereafter before claiming to be unaware of the deal?

What steps did Mr. Shezi take to clarify the matter with Pirates?

Can Mr. Shezi differentiate teams’ agreement (selling of players) to a personal agreement (between a player & a team) which includes remuneration, etc?

Shouldn’t the “baffled” complainants log this matter to G. Arrows as they are the one that had a contract (including the power to sell) with Manqana?

Who in his right mind does not know who Screamer?

Why then complain and rush to the media when you are yet to clarify the matter with Screamer? Hasn’t Manqana heard of a thing called protocol?

Why is Manqana making his future working conditions unbearable without 1st seeking proper clarification from all parties?

Has he received what he thinks is a better offer from another team hence his utterances?

Why did he say the following statement if he was unsure & unhappy of the deal? “I am happy to join Pirates, one of the biggest brands in the world”

Dooba OPC: 2012-01-20 11:44

I dont know why people keep changing the content of the article above: there is nowhere in the article where they say Manqana or matlaba did not agree personal terms with Swop deals fc. How can you agree personal terms with the team you might not even like? E.g. Myeni made it public he does not want to join Sundowns, so even if his agent, Wits bosses and Motsepe boys agreed trms, it was still up to him to decide to go. So in this case such did not happen; it seems the player does not have a say on where he like to further his football, a result we can conclude "as three criminal taking advantage of his lack of knolwedge.

So the goal of the story was to show that this player is a prize between three criminals (the mafia himself, his girlfriend mato and the player's useless agent), that he was told what to do without his consent...

Swona Champ!: 2012-01-20 11:47

a footballer is a slave, the reason you jumped into the plane to Jozi is because, as much as you are a man, have a girlfriend or wife or even kids, and at times ur woma/en cry when you on top, but you were told to go to Ushaka airport boarded a plane not knowing why were doing so and told to go to Orlando or JHB stadium for training with the team that you play for its a sign that you Manqana,as much as you are a complete indipended man so you say, you are a slave, and there is nothing you can do about it, even the United nation can not do anything about it, If I were you I would work hard to impress Pirates so they can give you a contrat, then all your doors will be open!

TP : 2012-01-20 11:58

Gordon!thanks for that info but that makes me to have more questions than answers:

1.Will he(Boa Morte) be assessed or its just a straight signing on past reputation?

Why I'm asking this is because Manqana is subjected to being assessed but he has been seen playing for arrows.

Couple of years ago Pirates also signed Dennis Mwape without a trial & he even said it.

Zebras please stop this nonsense about deals being sealed between the sheets because if that is the truth it means our chairman(THE REAL CHAIRMAN) has once again taken something special from your HAIRLESS CHAIRMN, zebras were the first to get players from arrows, players such as Nale and Khenyeza were from arrows, must we then go around saying those players were brought to chiefs as a result of adults consensual ***? as we all know that zebras are thinly skinned financially and can not afford to buy any south african player. my conclusion therefor is that the same methodology that you zebras claim was used by the highest ranking official in south african soccer was infact initialised by the HAIRLESS ONE until the colonel came and showed him how it is done once again!

@Kickoff did you really interview Manqana or did you have an interview over the phone with someone claiming to be Manqana himself ?
- Firstly let us assume that Kickoff had an interview with Manqana earlier today and that everything written here is correct , under this assumption I am forced to ask Kickoff why did you accept the story as is without reference to an interview the player had with Sowetan yesterday ? Surely any journalist with an inquiring mind would want to know why the player believed he has signed for a team only to deny it a day later ?
- The player claims to have phoned Manto but her cellphone was off , is Manto the only Admin person at Arrows ?
- Where does the person called Screamer (Tshabalala) fit in the eguation?
- The player is training with Pirates , Why because he is not on trial at Pirates ? or is he since he claims not to have any knowledge of his move to Pirates ?
If today was April the 1st I would understand the story , this leaves me with one suspicion that your website has been hacked you need to consult your IT Manager as soon as possible
