Maritzburg to sign Zim striker

Maritzburg United are closing in on signing of Cuthbert Malajila, after agreeing personal terms with the Zimbabwe striker, who has been training with the club for the past week.
The transfer is now dependant on Maritzburg agreeing terms with the 26-year-old's Zimbabwean club Dynamos, with whom he still has a year remaining on his contract.
KickOff.com has been told Dynamos are asking in the region of R550 000 for their trusted striker, who they had already registered for their CAF Champions League campaign.
Maritzburg spokesperson Younus Kadodia confirms that the deal to bring Malajila is now close to being finalised.
"We have agreed on the personal terms and we are now close to finalising the deal with his Zimbabwean club. Actually, the deal should be completed anytime from now," Kadodia tells KickOff.com.
Malajila has convinced the club that he is worthy of being signed, on his second trial spell at the club, after spells in Tunisia and Libya.
An experienced striker, who has played for the two biggest clubs in Zimbabwe, Malajila thrives on being a goal poacher and was influential in Dynamos winning the Zimbabwe League last year.
Maritzburg have been quiet during the transfer window, with reserve goalkeeper Tashrique Goldman the only player that has left, after his contract was terminated.
Goldman is now training with Chippa United, and will probably sign for the First Division club next week.
Senegal defender Mor Diouf and Nigerian winger Felix Obada have attracted interest from Europe, but nothing tangible has come of it as yet.
"We cancelled Tashrique's contract because in the five years that he was with us he has never been the first choice. With Mor and Felix the enquiries about them haven't grown into anything concrete," Kadodia says.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper coach Ronnie Kanalelo will continue to hold the fort as caretaker at the club until new coach Ernst Middendorp gets his work permit.
Maritzburg's first assistant John 'Urban' de Kock is currently on sick leave while second assistant Aschwin Sutton left when Ian Palmer was fired last week.
"We are waiting to secure Middendorp's work permit and Ronnie Kanalelo will stand in as caretaker coach in the meantime," Kadodia confirms.
