Celtic sign Rabiu Ibrahim

Celtic have announced the signing of Nigerian midfielder Rabiu Ibrahim subject to a successful work permit application.

The 20-year-old will join the Parkhead side on a three-and-a-half year deal after impressing while on trial with the Hoops.

The playmaker earned the move after making an impact in a practice match against St Johnstone when he played 60 minutes of the 3-2 victory.

The former PSV player marks Celtic's second piece of transfer business in as many days after announcing the signing of defender Jaroslaw Fojut on a pre-contract agreement on Tuesday.

Speaking of the capture of Ibrahim, manager Neil Lennon told the club's official website: "We have been very impressed by Rabiu. In my view he is a highly talented and exciting young player and someone who will be a tremendous addition to our squad.

"He is a playmaker, well balanced and a very intelligent footballer. We are really looking forward to him joining us."

Maidagri provided a positive note in his speech regarding the female U-17. It was the first time I have had anyone in authority expressing a Nigerian style of play. It will be great if a Nigerian style of play is established. However, we dont need to copy Brazil or European style just use our own based on the strenght and skills our players have exhibited. The British style is unmistakable airel assault and running. The Brazilian style is equaly unmistakable, footskill, possesion. The Germans are unmistakable, precision. These countries I have mentioned have not deviated from what made them successful from year to year. Now it is time for Nigeria to identify their brand of football, develop and teach it at the youth level. The Spaniards were always bridesmaid in world cup and did not achieve total success until they develop and put into play their brand of football. It is high time Nigeria does the same. Howevr, this wont happen if they dont desist from hiring mercenary coaches(foregn).

It's bn a while i comment on this site, bcs i don't like the way we do things in our country. Most especially in football, Nff cares a lot about their pocket. This is the right man for (Keshi) and Rabiu is a playmaker in did but it's left to (him) to invite him. God bless Nigeria!
