Michael Nkambule goes Awol at Sivutsa Stars

Nkambule back to his bad ways

Posted: 2012-01-18 12:48

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Michael Nkambule has gone AWOL at First Division club Sivutsa Stars after failing to report back when the resumed training after the festive break.

Nkambule hasn’t been back since training resumed on January 8 and has not bothered to inform the club why he is not back, despite repeated efforts to contact him.

The 23 year-old had played a mere two games for Sivutsa since joining in October – coming on as a substitute in the first and then getting red carded in the other.

“This boy hasn’t been back at the club since we started training last week Monday and that equals to being AWOL, especially since he still has a contract with the club.

“He is not answering his phone and hasn’t even bothered to return messages left on his phone. He had only featured in two games for us after which he went away with Amabineplaas and then came back injured,” says Charles Nkosi, the club spokesman.

Apparently Nkambule has been joined by Phiwe Mlalandle, Mfanelo Makume, David Fakude and Menzi Dlamini on the list of players that haven’t returned to the club since the festive break.

“All these guys have never bothered to even contact the office. Being AWOL is gross misconduct,” adds Nkosi.

Nkambule’s career has frozen despite his talent failing to make any progress since returning from French club RC Strasbourg’s juniors five years ago.

Just like many talented players that have come from Daveyton before him like Jabu Mahlangu and Skaapie Malatsi, Nkambule has battled to keep his career intact.

Meanwhile, Free State Stars have begun moving the five players that they transfer listed at the beginning of last week with burly striker Madoda Motha going out on loan to Sivutsa Stars.

Motha has been loaned out to Sivutsa for the rest of the season, while the other four players (Mpho Makola, Thamane Motaung, Tebelo Mofokeng and Mxolisi Gumede) transfer listed by the club are also expected to leave before the end of the month.

Nkosi confirms that they have already snapped up Motha – who was born in Mpumalanga – the province where Sivutsa are based.

Motha joined Ea Lla Koto just 18 months ago from Mpumalanga Black Aces.

Sivutsa have also snapped up Jabulani Nkosi on loan from Black Leopards for the rest of the season, along with Speedy Mabaso from Orlando Pirates’ feeder team Yebo Yes.

Sivutsa are also looking at one time Pirates winger Tebogo Mashaba and Oscar Mathebula, who had a stint with Maritzburg United three years ago.

Y am I not surprised? He was at kaizer chimps where the culture of going AWOL and destroying your career has been instilled in him. The record speaks for itself: Jabu Pule, patrick mbuthu, junior khanye and etc. I mean the list is endless.

Shoooooo

Eish!! What is wrong with youngsters from Daveyton? It was Jabu pule and Junior Khanye. Now it is Nkambule. Not sure if Skappie is from the same township.

Where is Pollen Ndlanya? Can he initiate a university for youngsters discipline in Daveyton?

Mr Editor and your colleagues, I didnt know today was sabotage Chiefs day. The article should read: Nkanbule, the current Sivutsa Stars player, has gone AWOL. Then in the body of your article you can now devulge the background of the player by say, for example, "this is not the first time Nkambule has gone AWOL, 10 years ago he went AWOL when in the Chiefs books.... and on and on!!!

I think you people should either improve your proficiency in English grammar or stop reading "The New Age" newspaper at all.

This boy is wasting his God given talent,i'm from Mthatha and i used to play soccer in the amature ranks and most of us that time never got anywhere so u and ur fellow boys 4rm Gauteng u get given chances and u waste it while some of us could not afford to go to joburg for trials with great teams.Alcohol and drug abuse will get u to the tombstone or jail buddy coz obviously u not a responsible drinker.

Why did he come back from France? mara these boys nabo cannot choose friends.

Tolly.ba.Thathe : 2012-01-18 17:50

I come from the school of thought that says "if there's a problem and in addressing and remedying that problem you must look first at the roots of the part to establish where exactly the problem started"...now don't we have to look at where this boy comes from? I am certain that's where he learned this...remember Eric September? Just a question...!

You call a 23 year old a boy and what do you expect? It is self-fulfilling tag.

On the other hand when you have that level of truancy, because it is not just one player, look closer too to the club management because something is definitely wrong and the players may be voting with their feet.
