Sifiso Vilakazi's proposed move to AmaZulu might have more consequences for Bidvest Wits than initially predicted …
Bradley Ritson is recovering from an operation to remove a cyst in his knee, and although he is confident he will recover quickly, doctors have estimated a 10-day rest period from football activity.
With Vilakazi seemingly on his way to Durban, Wits recently called back Letsie Koapeng from his loan to Bay United, but Ritson is hoping to jump straight back into action when PSL football kicks off.
"I hope to be back by the resumption of the League fixtures because I have not been seeing enough action this season, even prior to this setback," Ritson tells KickOff.com.
"The operation had to be done now since we were on a break, also because the pain in my knee was serious and I was starting to get blood clots on my tendons and it was affecting my mobility.
"I have been motivating myself because I know that I already lack match fitness, because I have been a peripheral figure in matches."
Vilakazi's move to Usuthu recently hit a deadlock, however, owing to the fact that his wife and children are settled in Johannesburg.
His agent, however, believes the deal could still go through.
On Vilakazi's intended move, Ritson said: "He is a good player and adds quality and dynamism to the team, it would be a pity to lose him at this stage of the season but I feel that we have enough depth in the squad to deal with any departures."
Ritson went on to add that he is not a direct replacement for Vilakazi in the starting XI.
"We do not play the same type of football but I am prepared to match what he has done so far this season," the former AmaZulu and Moroka Swallows hit-man says.
