Pirates sign Manqana and Matlaba

Posted: 2012-01-17 07:08

Orlando Pirates have confirmed the signings of Njabulo Manqana from Golden Arrows and Thabo Matlaba from Free State Stars.

KickOff.com broke the news on January 5 that Manqana was on his way to Bucs and again led the way with news on January 9 that Matlaba was touted as a solution to “Bucs' left-back problem”.

Now Pirates have officially confirmed that they have signed both players, though they haven’t revealed the lengths of the contracts.

The two players will start training with the team today, while "Clifford Ngobeni has been cleared to travel to Durban to begin talks with Golden Arrows".

Wrong choice team choice boys. Where is mayambela, bester, ndulula, msowoya the list goes on nd on. When they were signed were touted as the next best thing. U have killed ur own careers. U must know that at rats no overseas dreams. U will be used and made to retire as a pauper like lekwelea, motale, metroblitz sithole(oukapi)jerryskhosana haa bafowethu the list again goes on nd on. Don't say we did not warn U

Rosina : 2012-01-17 07:38

Manqana u ll kick da ball during training ONLY.U 've ended ur career early shame

PhahlaVM : 2012-01-17 07:43

They sign everything they come across...

Hangwanie: 2012-01-17 07:53

How many players did Pirates signed? 16? 20? In total how many players did they have? Will this win them a league?

brazilitto : 2012-01-17 07:56

How can a challenge kills one career. At downs we had players who will go to de media and claim sundowns is trying to kill them. Dey all fail, and experts to play while not delivering. Professionalism is what we as fans need to teach our players. Remember fans are smarter than players. Senior players will tell u dat de young stars only after money. 1c they can afford a golf 6 gti, it de end of the challenge for them. Then we hav fans who don't tell the truth when suppose to do so. A challenge is always good for a soccer player.
If u fail it, don't dwell but rather try and c where it all went wrong and correct so u can move on.

Exactly! our players are real under acheivers and the main culprits is our fans who institute this by singing praises to a player who wins 2 man of matches and they regard him as the best thing to ever don their teams colours...all the players who did not make it after signing for either Bucs, Khosi and Downs should not blame the respective teams but themselves as we dont see what happens in the training grounds like he example of Mayambela past with Mathebula and Khanyeza who left Downs the Technical staff does headed by the coach so we should not as fans make any judgements based @ our personal agendas towrds certain players or teams...

Bashin: 2012-01-17 08:23

Thoae of you who are insulting the "Swap Deal" which has been instigated by Khoza clearly lack logic and will never make it in the business world...this process can work for any team which has enough assets within themselves and that I can see with only Downs and Bucs who have made it work to their advantage as we have seen with the recent transfers...

Manyisa has found a worthy challenger for his position in Manqana. I mean if you follow football and not only chiefs, you will have noticed that this boy is Papi Zothwane on steriods. watch the space you Thomases

kukonie: 2012-01-17 08:33

This Njabulo boy is in for a big suprise at Pirates, not only will he not make the starting eleven but he will not warm the bench either.

I guess he had signed a one season contract otherwise he'll be loaned come the next season. Which position is he going to play I wonder?

Motlokoa  : 2012-01-17 08:39

Guys yekani umona, Manqana is a very good signing, skill-wise he's the closest thing to Pelembe at Pirates. Maybe they should consider giving him the nickname Njabulo "Pebembe" Manqana to soothe the pain. Up the Bucs!

As the BONKING continues, so does the SWAPPING!!!

Auntie Mato & Dr. MAFIA's "famous" and much published relationship continues to grow in leaps and bounds, and rapidly so.

Rumours suggest that a "VAN EN SIT" arrangement is looming, cause Dr. MAFIA is fatigued by the long back-and-forth distance travelling, so he's determined to lure the estranged Auntie to the Brothel of Orlando on a permanent basis.

As someone has uttered before; "SWAPPING IS THE BEST THING IN MODERN FOOTBALL". Swap deal of a "SWAP DEAL" will produce viagra swap deal offspring!

Because why? Because "Football 101" was mastered at the BROTHEL of ORLANDO!

Eish imagine Pelembe being swapped! Eeew, that just IRKS my skin!
(P.S.) - Oh by the way KICKOFF publication - BIG THUMBS UP!!! But please dont just break the news, you must also FOLLOW THROUGH!!!

The Cruising continues as we prepare to fight off the good fight being put 4wd by Sundowns... All da ada teams are not worth mentioning as far as our league title defense is concerned!

Welcome to the Champions Den boys! If you thought signing for Orlando Pirates FC aka Happy People was the best thing to happen to your life then you haven’t seen anything. Wait until you meet our friendly Tour Guide lady; this is one lady that is task with the most difficult job in the history of PSL.

She will take you through an exhausting tour that includes an endless list of trophies. There you will not only see the trophies that you’ve only heard about on radio and seen in your dreams but you will have the privilege to actually touch and kiss them if you want. Those are the real trophies not replicas. Replica trophies are only given to the team in Naturena this after a fat drunk man was found trying to sell the real trophies in Hillbro.

Relax and enjoy your wonderful time with the team of Champions. You have a big task ahead of you, the task of defending all PSL trophies, yes, I mean ALL of them. Good Luck

I always wonder when Hobos & Sundunusa’s raise the swap deals whenever Pirates sign players. I know that to most of us English is our second language, so let me explain what swap means.

Swap simply means an exchange; it could be an exchange of anything including money. It is synonymous with buying since buying itself is also an exchange. Money is not the only means of an exchange, SA for example may exchange (swap) her platinum with Nigeria for her oil. In the forex market, it is called buying / trading / exchange …

Swapping (like gold) also holds more value than money. When you swap you determine the relative value of your asset (players) & get more than you would have your assets been fixed in monetary terms. This process is called speculation. I do not need to go further as we know how speculation determines the value of oil. Or how agents have made Pelembe the hottest property in the SA football than Myeni who by far is more talented, excellent investment for future export opportunities & has more years left in him. What Khoza is doing is pure business astuteness, All Hail The Chairman!!!

BobbyMotaung: 2012-01-17 09:36

Some dumb people comment here for the sake of commenting. Some are counting the number of players Pirates signs, which team plays all the players that they signed? Family Bonds fc has a long list of players the likes of Ncanana, Mateba, Macimeza, Khune, Songwiqi and many more, the less said about Mamelodi Circus the better. They sign players to deliver toys to Red Cross.

Mgugudi: The Treble Addict: 2012-01-17 09:44

@ BobbyMotoung,

To add on what you have said champ, Pirates sign players because we play all the games in a season, a feat never seen before woldwide. We are the only team that takes CAF competitions seriousy, we therefore need the players.

Even our detractors know very well that we have injuries & last season the likes of Gqubule suspended our players like it was out of fashion. On a make-shift squad, we stood strong & the tremble is now history writen in Black &White with a tint of Red...

its article like these that educate and in long run will make bloggers to comment positively.Guys let us all apply our minds when commenting.S'downs have release Cale&Mabuti for Laffor -that transaction will benefit all stakeholders, why keep a good player on bench? Other teams beleave on direct buy from Zim , no problem. But those who are in business(Koza / motsepe)knows how to do business deals

say what you want about pirates having too many players but the fact remains that the system is working,as a fan i dont mind if pirates signs a lot of players because i dont lose money in the transfer, instead i have a team with healthy competition, even if some of the players are average,it gives the coach the option of choosing what is quality and what isnt,so hate all you want, fact remains that the system is working!lol...go ahead and console yourselves by talking about messing up careers when no-one is forced to sign,if you cant stand the heat...you know what to do

To all the excited Chimpanzees and Mamelodi Domkops: I was going to be worried if our new signees will walk into the team and be regular. That will confirm we dont have quality players but that is not the case, we are talking about the Champions of all psl trophies here. These players knows very well it will be tough to break into this hot team. They will have to work very hard. Ask even those who were on long term injuries, they will tell you its not easy to break into that solid team.

Summerrain!: 2012-01-17 11:53

Lets watch chiefs trying swap their cows & see how far they'l get, those players that were swapped by Pirates are well appreciated by the teams that received them. CAN chiefs SWAP ncanyama or whatever he's being called to even Nathi Lions?

Lets welcome Manqana and Matlaba to the galaxy of stars.

One thing i can tel them is the Chairman gave half of the money won last season to players and technical staff.

Pirates players have achieved everything there is to play for in the PSL. So boys prepare yourself for Nedbank, PSL championship and CAF celebrations.

for more Infor on that refer to Benni n Talatou

Baroka fc : 2012-01-17 12:30

I said it & I 'll say it again this thing of destroying careers is non-existent if a player fails to face the challange of the stiff competition,he is not good enough.Period.

As a Khosi die-hard, i must confess my envy and jealousy about Manqana, Barks have themselves a real super-star in this boy, clever, skillful and entertaining, he's the closest thing to Jabu Pule (when he was at Chiefs), yho, i'm scared, especially since our team's absent in the transfer market!!!!!!

KING?: 2012-01-17 12:51

LESEGO: i dont mean to disagree with you, Manqana is far from what Jabu Pule was unless u dont know the real Shuffle Pule Kwaito, mfanakithi this guy was SA Messi.

Manqana is a good player but to compare him to Javas is just overrating him, Jabu was the best player in his generation with Motseri Kidio Lekoelea, another player maybe we can try to compare to Jabu is the late Mpho Leremi Vum Vum aduma yatsamaya.

Players such as Zongo, Miyeni,Doutie,Shongwe have the potential of emulating what Pule was.

In Conclusion Jabu Pule was just born to be a super star.

Steve Lekoelea- He ruled the soccer fields till Shuffle came from nowhere to topple him (the latter played in the AFCON finals, World Cup and other continental tournaments, won everything there was to win).

Gift Leremi (R.I.P)-This boy was world class, pure magic, Thulani Serero reminds me of the VUM VUM!

Masibusane Zongo- If only he would resist tempts, otherwise, extremely gifted!

Michael Nkambule- What a sad story huh, with all that talent......damn!

Teko MOdise (The General)- Truly talented, jealous down bafowethu!!!

Philane Shange, Njabulo Manqana - Talented but way too underrated, it's a pity!
