Tsepo Masilela continued his good form in the Spanish La Liga on Sunday when he helped his Getafe side keep a clean-sheet against Atletico Bilbao.
Bilbao have the fifth-best attack in La Liga so far this season, but were kept quiet by Masilela and co in the 0-0 draw that leaves both sides secure in mid-table.
Calvin Kadi scored his fourth goal in eight starts for Greek second-tier side Veria last Wednesday as they beat Kallonis 1-0 but was kept out of their weekend clash with Platanias on Sunday that saw them lose their top spot in the division to their opponents after a defeat by the same margin.
Aaron Mokoena got another 90 minutes under his belt and even had a great scoring chance for Portsmouth that he headed over as they lost 4-0 at Chelsea in the English FA Cup.
Meanwhile on Saturday, Bafana Bafana skipper Steven Pienaar got a rare start for Tottenham Hotspur as they brushed aside fourth-tier Cheltenham Town 3-0.
Manager Harry Redknapp fielded a second-string side and gave Pienaar just his fourth start of the season, with the other three appearances all coming in the UEFA Europa League. The 29-year-old put in a lively display, narrowly missing out on putting his name on the scoresheet as he saw a goal-bound effort deflected over the bar.
On Friday night Cape Town-born Dean Furman captained third-tier Oldham Athletic as they lost 5-1 at Anfield in a game that will be more remembered for the disgraceful racist abuse handed out to Oldham youngster Tom Adeyemi, who was left in tears by the taunts from a section of Liverpool fans.
Andrew Surman was again on the scoresheet as Norwich City brushed aside Championship side Burnley 4-1.
The South African-born star swept the ball home after a quick counter-attack on 60 minutes to put Norwich 3-1 ahead in the game.
There was no place in the Reading squad for Bongani Khumalo as they lost 1-0 to third-tier Stevenage, with Bafana Bafana centre-back likely to leave the club this month.
And Kagisho Dikgacoi also was not involved as Crystal Palace lost 1-0 at fellow Championship side Derby County.
Meanwhile in Israel, Dino Ndlovu made his return for Bnei Yehuda after time off for compassionate leave as they won 5-1 at home to Hapoel Petach Tikva.
Ndlovu came on as a second-half sub having not played since December 17 following the death of his father.
