Tlhomelang back after two year ban

Posted: 2011-12-30 16:12

Mpumalanga Black Aces will continue assessing veteran defender Lucas Tlhomelang in the New Year following the end of his two year ban from football.

Tlhomelang tested positive for a banned substance in 2009 while in the colours of Aces and was then banned for two years.

With the ban having elapsed in November 2011 the 35 year-old is looking to rekindle his football career at the same club.

“Lucas will continue training with the club in the New Year when we resume training. We want to get him to be ready first before anything about him signing can be factored in because he hasn’t played competitive football for a long time,” says club spokesman Thulani Khumalo.

“Craig Rosslee was interested and the new coach (Rodolfo Zapata) will now continue looking at him. The club could possibly sign him to play for this season or have him train at the club until he is ready to play next season. He had a meeting with the club boss before we went for the break but what is important is how he comes back from the break,” says Khumalo.

Tlhomelang has three Bafana Bafana caps and his career which started off at Jomo Cosmos took him to Hungary, Orlando Pirates, Bloemfontein Celtic and City Pillars.

Another player banned in recent times for using banned substances Lucky Maselesele is now in semi-retirement after a spell in Namibia following the expiry of his ban.

At 35 it won't be easy to get a decent club, especially looking at his track record. This is the same thing that must be talked abt everytime when some of this players choose a bottle instead of working hard & opening a pub at retirement.I really don't feel pity for this players who repeatedly choose a bad influence. Its just the same as someone who steals for a living.

Mr Tlhomelang!ur one of the guys who decided to frequent a pub in their playing days instead of owning a pub on retirement.Guys like Jabu,Skaapie,Nunens,Mbuthu & a lot more.At ur age I just hope u saved enough for that pub but realistically I find it hard to pity u guys.U made a bed & its time to lay on it.At age 35 & being inactive for 2 yrs its probably too late. This kind of disasters must be documented so that the young ones don't idolize this kind of self destructions.

I was just asking myself if this guy didn't by any chance found himself in the corridors of the University of Orlando. And he did. Ok, then no suprises as to a situation he hsa just resurected from. Also no suprises as to his dillusional state of mind in terms of thinking he can go anywhere at this age of his.
