While Vladimir Vermezovic says the long PSL break may negatively affect Kaizer Chiefs' League title quest, some coaches are using the time to perfect their strategies ahead of a tough second round.
The League is currently on an eight-week recess for the festive season and the Africa Cup of Nations, which will take place from 21 January to 12 February.
The Amakosi coach says the long break has the potential of affecting the momentum that Chiefs have built up, as it may impact on the fitness of players.
"We have been playing well of late and when a team is in good form, it is not always good for the games to be stopped," the outspoken Serbian coach says.
"We will have to start again after the break by building the momentum. These long breaks can affect the fitness of players but there is nothing we can do," he adds.
League breaks have in the past also been been criticised by Moroka Swallows coach Gordon Igesund.
However, Platinum Stars coach Owen da Gama has welcomes the break, saying it will give some of his players time to recover from injuries ahead of the second round of matches.
"I am happy with the break," Da Gama tells KickOff.com. "As a club it will give our players time to recover from injuries.
"These [injuries] have been affecting us and have sometimes complicated things for the team.
"The break will also help us to have a look at our strategy and analyse some of the areas that we have to improve on.
"We intend to beef up our side with the acquisition of a few players as we need to strengthen some of the departments," adds the Dikwena coach.
Jomo Cosmos coach Jomo Sono also welcomes the break. "We will use the break to recharge our batteries," he says. "We have to come back stronger so that we avoid relegation.
"Generally, the team has been playing well but we have just been unlucky," adds Sono.
Sono's team were the worst performing team in the first 15 matches of the season.
With just 9 points to their name, Jomo Cosmos have just managed a single victory, eight losses and six draws.
