Kaizer Chiefs coach Vladimir Vermezovic unhappy with PSL break

VV unhappy with PSL break

Posted: 2011-12-26 11:04

While Vladimir Vermezovic says the long PSL break may negatively affect Kaizer Chiefs' League title quest, some coaches are using the time to perfect their strategies ahead of a tough second round.

The League is currently on an eight-week recess for the festive season and the Africa Cup of Nations, which will take place from 21 January to 12 February.

The Amakosi coach says the long break has the potential of affecting the momentum that Chiefs have built up, as it may impact on the fitness of players.

"We have been playing well of late and when a team is in good form, it is not always good for the games to be stopped," the outspoken Serbian coach says.

"We will have to start again after the break by building the momentum. These long breaks can affect the fitness of players but there is nothing we can do," he adds.

League breaks have in the past also been been criticised by Moroka Swallows coach Gordon Igesund.

However, Platinum Stars coach Owen da Gama has welcomes the break, saying it will give some of his players time to recover from injuries ahead of the second round of matches.

"I am happy with the break," Da Gama tells KickOff.com. "As a club it will give our players time to recover from injuries.

"These [injuries] have been affecting us and have sometimes complicated things for the team.

"The break will also help us to have a look at our strategy and analyse some of the areas that we have to improve on.

"We intend to beef up our side with the acquisition of a few players as we need to strengthen some of the departments," adds the Dikwena coach.

Jomo Cosmos coach Jomo Sono also welcomes the break. "We will use the break to recharge our batteries," he says. "We have to come back stronger so that we avoid relegation.

"Generally, the team has been playing well but we have just been unlucky," adds Sono.

Sono's team were the worst performing team in the first 15 matches of the season.

With just 9 points to their name, Jomo Cosmos have just managed a single victory, eight losses and six draws.

its festive season but we r bored! The EPL is keeping the English entertained. But i'll never indulge myself in heavy drinking like Pirates fans.

Mosala : 2011-12-26 14:59

I fully agree with VV,the likes of Chiefs & are on top form in the league, this undue break may disadvantage them.Either of them stands a chance to win the league.

TshepisoMa : 2011-12-26 15:00

My 2012 wish is that Kaizer Chiefs return that R65million it illegally got from that Beer Cup to its rightful owners, that is charity organisations. Chiefs bought Majoro, Parker, Mashamaite and Ritchie with charity Cup money. Destitute people need that money desperately.

Totalfootball : 2011-12-26 16:34

You should be the happiest man VV,this means you should try different combinations and strategies to try and finish as # 2 as this is the best your team can achieve!
Remember the mighty Bucs will be invincible come the second round,we won't have mercy and your team will be one of the first to play and we are going to be merciless towards it!

Sea Robber : 2011-12-26 17:35

Vula vula this is a perfect time to go to zim and scout for a striker because ngcobo and parker are grazing all over the field, yeah thats right look at the Peter Mokaba stadium all the grass is finished.once and always until vv discusses tactics with the zebra fans.

What momentum is VV talking about? This coach is forever complaining & criticising. My wish is for him to remain at chiefs for five more years, for they'll never win anything.

So according to Vivian playing consecutive goalless draws against Maritzburg Utd & Santos, losing 2-0 to SSU, scraping thru w/ undeserved 1-0 & 2-1 wins against Sunflops & FSS respectively and playing anada goal less draw against Amazulu is "playing well lately"...

He must do da math b4 shooting his mouth off coz dat's 9 points dropped!!!

Yi moegoe lomjita lo! If the cHIVs team manager was not a moegoe as well he wud b history by now...

The whole KC is crap. Not only VV but also the players that can't win games against lower teams. This rot started long time b4 this useless coach & his useless group of players.Even if this palookas of plauers are playing to get their polooka coach fired, they will still get same results when serious.Just imagine on retirement with cabinet that resembles a mid table team.PALOOKAS

tshipi ka bo yellow : 2011-12-27 15:53

vv don't blame the long break man. This is the opportunity for you to scout quality players. The current mediocre players you have can't win the leaque. They're just there to settle for top 8.

brazilitto : 2011-12-28 06:57

Ya VV special 1. Tell me what yo problem now. We gave u three points to save your R9500 job. Oooh I know a used nabukeni it no work no pay on situation like dis. Oh shame poor man.

"We will use the break to recharge our batteries,"

NZOTHO: 2011-12-28 16:15

Look @ urself & ask urself this question VV what have u achieved @ KC in 3 seasons only TKO which u couldn't defend as all CUPS r heading 2 PARKTOWN again, pls start looking 4 a job during this break as ur contract won't b renewed try & make amends with ur playas in order u can finish in the top 5

Azania: 2011-12-28 18:01

VV is crazy. Their top strikers, such as Daniel Bennet, will be at AFCON. How do you maintain momentum when Gcubule & partners are not around playing? Time to check on more Zim players. Bobby says they shared points with Amazulu because now is the time of sharing, and he wants people to respect his empty head. ANC or IFP would not employ such a retarded moron. How can this boy compare a mass based liberation movement with his family farm business? VV and Bobby must fcuk off. And must take their arrogant imbecile brother with them -Pitso Mosimane. Sies.

sipho : 2011-12-29 06:05

i pity vv. Chiefs has no quality. VV is doing well with the poor quality. The family business must buy quality for the coach

Serbia : 2011-12-29 11:30

V V go and coach in serbia where is not affected by Afcon or take Zimchiefs to train in serbia.

tkay77: 2011-12-29 15:35

This is the only time u can't lose a game VV lol

sydney shingange : 2011-12-30 17:18

honestly diz break will help a lot to most of de players who ddnt perform well to de first round

Nathi Bhengu : 2012-01-18 20:37

Is it only the Chiefs that might be negatively affected by this break? Why not other teams? I think this is just an excuse for failure!
