Jomo Cosmos could pick up a heavy fine from the PSL

Mhlathe shoulders blame for kit mix up

Jomo Cosmos are facing the possibility of picking up a heavy fine from the PSL after playing their League game against Maritzburg United at the Harry Gwala Stadium in kit with no players names on the back and without the sponsor Absa's logo. 

The game between Cosmos and United was screened live on TV on Saturday afternoon and Ezenkosi lost 3-1.
 
Club communication's manager Lucky Mhlathe acknowledged that the incident brought embarrassment to both the League and the sponsors.
 
"There was a breakdown in communication," says Mhlathe.
 
"Our red kit was delayed at the airport and we could not delay the game as it was being shown on TV. This was my fault as I thought our kit would not clash with that of Maritzburg United.
 
"I would like to apologise to the PSL, the chairman Dr Irvin Khoza, my chairman Mr Jomo Sono, the sponsors Absa, the Sabc who were covering the game and the soccer loving people for the incident.
 
"Jomo Sono always give his former players a chance to work with the team and yesterday's incident makes me feel as though I have let him down.
 
"In the event of the club being fined, I intend paying the penalty from my own pocket," he adds.

Mhlathe, may Jomo Sono pls assist you to pay the fine. You have shown great character and honour by accepting the blame and taking full responsibility for the mess. You are more of a man that you can imagine. We need more noble people like you.

Mhlathe u made a blunder,poor kit managing skills,i don't blame u,mistakes do happen but with a cost invovled,u won't afford to pay R20 000 of the fine but don't worry bra J will pay it but don't be suprised if he will debit it on your monthly salary as installments.Hlukana ne mbamba or else bra J will smack u next time.

That so embarassing and that damed Cosmos as number 1 candidates for relegation... I hope the league will deal with this issue like they did to other teams. Atleast the Mr Mhlathi acknowledged the mess....

That is the result of last minute planning if not taking your job serious. Next time don't think but make sure you are correctly informed of your kit in advance cos if you knew you would have organised a contingency kit for in case. You must understand that you are now playing in Professional Soccer League. Need I say more?

Sorry to be direct with you for you need to learn from this embarrassing moment that you need not think next time you will escape with an apology.

One can only wish teams in the PSL work together. Maritzburg could have changed to their alternative trip. But then, as home team they have a prerogative to play in their home jersey. I notice WITS like to do the same. When they host Pirates they use black. When they play Chiefs or Golden arrows or Sundowns, they use their yellow or purple strip. Teams do these things to make opponents feel uncomfortable and unsettled. Someone could have seen this ...THIS IS ANFIELD. Liverpool has such words on the stadium tunnel, to instill fear on opponents. Well, it is just a thought.
