Benni McCarthy to throw R100 000 party with Telkom Knockout prize money!

Benni to throw R100K party for Bucs

Posted: 2011-12-14 14:19

Benni McCarthy is going to use the prize money from his Telkom Knockout Striker of the Tournament award to throw a party for his Orlando Pirates teammates.

"First and foremost I'd just like to thank my teammates for the hard work, the commitment and the effort they put in every single day in training. They also made me change my attitude," McCarthy said immediately after receiving his award.

"Although I'm an older player, an experienced player, they made me put in the hard work and it had merit because I ended up with the striker of the tournament."

In fact, to show his appreciation, the 34-year-old striker has decided to use his R100 000 prize money on a party for his teammates.

"It is Christmas time and I think the team has put in a magnificent effort, and I know the chairman is probably going to hate this but I promised the boys I was going to give them a special 'European' welcoming.

"That's how we do it in Europe, we always have Christmas parties, nice and respectable, but we have R100 000 to spend. So that is what I'm going to do with the R100 000, spend it on my teammates because without them I wouldn't have won the award," grins McCarthy.

He also went on to add that he was a little disappointed that he only scored three goals in the tournament, losing out on the bonus prize money.

"As a striker you are never satisfied with what you end up with in goals. I always felt there were like a few games where I could have scored way more than I did, but obviously as long as I helped the team get the victory and progress to the next round, that was always our objective.

"But I am little bit disappointed because myself and my teammates let slip the possibility of me winning the R150 000 bonus!"

What a party THAT would have been …

Maybe something like THIS Manchester City party.

This Boy got Pounds man.
I wonder how much is Pirates paying him.
You can combine Shabba,Khune and Letsholonyane salaries.
I am sure he is earning R100 000 00 per game. You know how is Khoza moos.
We paid Pollen Ndlanya and Nomvete when they were from overseas and Chiefs couldnt afford them.

@Scholes
Chill baba this is a strategic move Bennie is looking at the bigger picture: Top Goal scorer. And if he hasn’t done anything for his neighbourhood yet then it’s still in the pipeline coz part of the top goal scorer cheque will be donated to them.

@ Scorpion
Didn’t you haters say he’s coming home for the last check when we signed him??? He just wants to show you haters that for him it’s not about cash. I’m sure broke ass Bobby wherever he is he’s preparing to call Colonel to ask for Benni’s namba phela that cash could go a long way in settling the R7.3m that you still owe Musona’s academy. Mncm!!!

Dr_Prof_(Soccer Analyst_Anti-KickOff and Soccer Laduma): 2011-12-14 15:44

I am surprised there are those singing the unnecessarily splashing out Benni praises merely to act as if he's wealthier rich than any soccer player ever to land down. Yes, I admit and acknowledge that the man has perhaps earned himself money to live on after retiring from his soccer career but the question remains, has he made ends meet?

Is kickoff such desperate for news to an extent that it reports of an unnecessary off-the-fields drinkings? After all Bennie is a coloured, cultured-drinkers.

What benni is doing it shows that is clueless about money and he dont care about his supporters who always come to the stadium to support his team where ever is raining or is hot to give them the moral to play well.

Fela: 2011-12-14 16:14

Ya neh... if Benni was throwing a party for his teammates for R50 000 i guess that would n't be a problem right? Now that it is R100 000 it is a lot of money. Dont you morons have Christmas parties at your work places? or do you even work? Why are you associating a party with alcohol? Do you have any idea how expensive is alcohol?

I guess this is a lot of money for those who dont have it?

Jealous Down: 2011-12-14 16:15

JM Ngcobo : 2011-12-14 16:29

Hey Zakumi, you mean that Benny should invite all supporters to the party and that will make you feel good. You ll then be satisfied that he cares and wisely spent his money. C'mon wake up zakumi, its his money. He decides what to do with it. You also can do anything with yours. To me it seems you are a bit jealous. May be your team players are also a bit stingy. Benny has more than enough to do that. C'mon man let your team throw a big party and make a VIP invite for you. Tell us if you get invited.

Diehardbucs : 2011-12-14 16:39

@Molifi 2011-12-14 15:44.You seem to be worried & angry about Benni's party. But whatever happens @ the party wl never affect anything Zebraz. If its true what you say about Benni's manner being a drunkered coloured as you say, then Yeye could have been the one having such a party after being named striker of the tornament coz how would Benni give such a perfomance being the way you say?

I am really tired of this kak reporting by kickoff-side. We throw parties all the time and why is it an issue when a Pirate's player does it? There have been stories of players buying fellow teamates rolexes and this publication has the nerve to tell us about a R100K party. I am done with this site. The more you are biased against the PSL most successful team the more we will conquer. Voetsek!

I didn't want to comment on Bennie vs Wits coaches b4 I can put a thoughtful comment rather than emotional one.
If I was Bennie I will do an introspection & take stock of my past negatives.I also feel that Bennie hasn't won a weight issue yet & this will always bring some dissing towards him.Why would people be jealous of his success.Nobody will take that away, same applies to his football pedigree. But what people will take away from him is respect because of his attitude & conduct.Bennie said he won't reveal what Wits coaches said but to me & everyone who is not biased that decision makes our judgement easy after hearing what you said.Bennie's success is clouded by your negatives that include:
1.The tiff between Bennie & Mubarak.
2.Bennie's refusal to honor Bafana call ups when he was on form for his team.He even said on radio that baby sitting comes b4 Bafana.
3.Bennie's refusal to follow diet program at Blackburn until he was off loaded to West Ham.
4.At Westham,Avram Grant didn't entertain his non commitment until Ms Brady terminated his contract.
5.Now this issue against De Sa & Tinkler.Bennie,no one is jealous of you but rather annoyed with ur attitude. If us supporters can't talk abt this, who will?I have never seen a player in South Africa with negatives & feeling he's always right.Pirates fans are behind you but if you played for other team that could have been different.

How much was he paid to be out of his contract in ENGLAND
How much was his signing on fee at black burn where he was hot property.

Disco: 2011-12-15 09:58

I don’t see anything wrong when Bennie shows his gratitude by throwing this party. I only hope that he does it out of the goodness and not trying to make amends for his past. We can only hope that what happened to Moon and others before him will not happen this time because we know that sometimes people get too excited and irresponsible.

Maybe we should also refrain from the media approach of reporting issues before they happen because that’s propaganda; let’s wait and see what unfolds at the party and only comment on the truth rather than foretelling.

TP, I also see your views. It’s a pity that joy mostly overshadows the worst in people and I think Bucs fans are still drowning from their success hence their attitude. It’s a pity their attitude is not completely about Pirates but also about both Chiefs and Downs.

Above all, I believe Bucs deserves to be praised as they set a good challenge to our PSL. Downs and SSU were also arrogant with their 3 Leagues wins in a row; Chiefs is also arrogant with their cup history, etc.

We have different personalities in all different communities; unfortunately that’s the reality of life which we have to deal with. For example, some of the people praising Bennie today are the ones who were dishing him in the past.

TP : 2011-12-15 10:17

You want to destroy our boys Benny. Go to Europe and enjoy the party. You know what happened to Lekoelea, Pule etc. After you talk about a Party Pirates start to loose, they lost against Bloemfontein Celtic. Take the money and build a Church or Library in one of the Rural areas. Or give it to the poorest families man. What's your problem, we have a lot of people who don't have money to buy a loaf of bread or one pair of shoe.
