TKO player awards today

2011 Telkom Knockout Cup award ceremony is happening today

Posted: 13 December 2011 Time: 09:34 am

Now that we know who the 2011 Telkom Knockout Cup champions are, football fans will today discover the identity of the individual award winners.

The winners will be revealed at the awards ceremony at Wanderers in Johannesburg this afternoon at 12.30pm, and a whopping R750 000 is on offer for individual players who made the Telkom Knockout Cup the exhilarating competition that it was.   THE NOMINEES ARE:   Goalkeeper of the Tournament (R100 000): Moeneeb Josephs (Orlando Pirates), Greg Etafia (Moroka Swallows) and Energy Murambadoro (Bidvest Wits).

Defender of the Tournament (R100 000): Siyabonga Sangweni (Orlando Pirates), Lucky Lekgwathi (both Orlando Pirates), Derrick Spencer and Patrick Phungwayo (both Bidvest Wits).

Midfielder of the Tournament (R100 000): Oupa Manyisa, Isaac Chansa (both Orlando Pirates), Sifiso Myeni, Asive Langwe and Sibusiso Vilakazi (all Bidvest Wits).

Striker of the Tournament: Benni McCarthy (Orlando Pirates) and Ryan Chapman (Bidvest Wits)   Simba Marumo's 2006 hat-trick in the Final was not emulated, so that R100 000 award will not be presented.   The Player of the Tournament will be rewarded with a R200 000 cheque, but this award may not be presented today as in previous seasons it was presented at the PSL end of the season awards in May.

If Pirates don't clean up all the awards it will be crystal clear Telkom is also dissappointed that Zebras didn't win it again.
But i wouldn't mind giving Myeni laaitie one award, He sure deserve one, He's been terrorising defenders throughout the competition.
Miss of the tournament to my boy Mabena.
Celebration of the tournament to Mbuyane"paging a book for studends in the final"

Once and always fellas

Waiting with bated breath...

I tip Moeneed to tyk da GK award, Sangweni to tyk da Defenders award, Myeni to take the Midfielders award (although I think Jali deserves it, it's a pity he was not nominated), Powerball McCarthy to tyk da Strikers award & either Sangweni, Klate or McCarthy to be named player of the tournament...

Let's wait & c... Amabhakajuju ajabulile...

The toothless one was making noise about breaking the bones celebration by Chapman, but it was cool for mbuzane to insult the students as if he ever went to school himself... speak of double standards, but who couldnt expect that from the mafia? Still on the same page, the cow Micky mouse Modisane was given coverage by SABC yesterday and I was surprised he did not raise the issue of minimal coverage as was expected... desperate people sometime... Chapman man of the Tourney!

wits goalie deserves it as he only conceded in the final other than that all awards should be given to Zebra's. They need something to celebrate and thats a 5*5 fact.

@Dooba OPC,

Dont come with your stupid Zebra tendancy wena!!!! How can opening a book be an insult? They call themselves students and with teach them a lesson from a book. Nx!!!! But using our emblem and break bone, thats an insult!!! We competed for many years with Chiefs and never did I witness a chiefs player insulting us in this manner.

I dont care anymore about this stupid individual awards after Jali was robbed last season. If it was the Zebras who won the final, it was going to be obvious that all the awards go to Zebras. I mean Pirates reached the final last season but Zebras were given all the awards.

Anyway, Pirates players have enough money, i heard Josephs saying money is overflowing, he is still spending last season bonuses. Shame give this awards to the poor students with a student budget so they can buy books and learn from professor Mbuyane.

How is breaking the bones an insult and paddling the books not an insult- just as the bones are "intellectual property" so too is the student slogan since they identify themselves with learning and understanding... i think the mafia should apologise for encouraging his players to take the matter to the PSL DC, the same DC he has the influence over head of legal since this is appointed by him and not by the CEO- now I see why he insist on appointing the CFO, COO and Head of legal himself- always crawling under the carpet!
