Bucs' Champs League draw

Posted: 2011-12-11 09:02

Orlando Pirates have been drawn against Angolan side Recreativo do Libolo in the 2012 CAF Champions League preliminary round.

The Mighty Buccaneers will host the first leg match against Libolo at home on the weekend of February 17-19, while the return match is set for Angola on the weekend of March 2-4.

According to the fixtures, released by CAF on Saturday, Pirates will meet top Nigerian team Sunshine Stars for the first round of matches if they manage to beat Libolo.

If they overcome those two teams they will meet either Mali runners-up Djoliba, or the winner of the preliminary round tie between Uganda Revenue Authority and the Lesotho Correctional Services.

The first round matches will take place on March 23-25 and April 6-8, while the second round games are to be played on April 27-29 and May 11-13.

Orlando Pirates last won the Champions League in 1995, and it’s an open secret that club boss Irvin Khoza wants to add a second star to their badge as the club celebrates its 75th anniversary next season.

Now we talking! It would have been great if we played the second leg at the University of Orlando oh yes the fortress but since we playing it away I think we should avoid conceding and score a goal then 2nd leg we kill the game by scoring another one

KaMashobana: 2011-12-12 13:03

Hope it wont be one of those now common events where SA Champions are shown the exit door in the first round......amid nonsencical cries...he hehe, in Afica, referees, water poisioning, bus with no seats, pitch that is bumpy, abomaHosha etc and any other such RUBBISH.

I trust Bucs has a strong squad cappable of going all the way to Egypt,Tunisia and DRC.Siyabangena.

Angolan defence are always hard to crack, history will tell u that. In 1996 Bafana Bafana struggle to beat Angola than any other side in the tournament. The best pirates can do is buy their influencial defenders and loan them to black leopards to avoid embarrassment.

@Kamashobana: SA teams in CL is whr da dream ends. Don't xpct any special treatment coz ur nt gettn any. And unlike here, African teams do all da talkin on da pitch. Champions every whr over cme adversity under all conditions (La paz or Moscow) so stop whining abt conditions. In CL u will cme against sme of da most hard wrkin, talented and hardest players in da world so dnt bring ur 'softees' along.
