Solomons not fired, but not coaching

Boebie Solomons not fired from Santos, but Duncan Crowie coaching

Posted: 9 December 2011 Time: 11:44 am

A rather strange situation is playing out at Santos, where it has been decided that Boebie Solomons will not coach the team for their next two League matches – although he is not fired.

Head of youth Duncan Crowie has been temporarily tasked with coaching the senior team against Amazulu [on December 16) and Jomo Cosmos [on December 20].

Santos says: "This announcement does not spell out the end for current head coach, Boebie Solomons. In fact Solomons was part of the decision to bring Crowie to the forefront, indicating the team needs rejuvenating."

Solomons says he was indeed a part of the group that decided on him being put aside for the two matches in favour of Crowie.

"We reached a point where we had to do something. We were not getting the results we needed. We were not getting any better. When the club reaches that stage, it needs to bring some freshness into the squad. It needs someone to bring a new voice and new energy," Solomons says.

After the two matches, Santos are likely to decide on the way forward but it would seem the writing is on the wall for Solomons.

The People's Team currently occupies 14th spot on the log after winning just three of their 13 League matches this season.

I remember sometime back B Solomons (with Chief) coaching behind the fence,at B Leopards, embarassing the coach who was sitting for his last game, after being redeployed to a non existint developmet. Bobbie, no hard feelings my man but u shld always know ukuthi kusinwa kudedelwana. Many will follow u after the Afcon, we know them.

This is actually a fact that he's pre-fired, finnish and klaar. They in a desperate situation so they have do something different and obviously they doing just that. Let them be and ofcourse after those two games we'll get the news that he has just been sacked.

Yha Bobby I am sure they can find you onather job within the ranks of the team, maybe be a manager of the team security or kit manager, whaterver that doesnt have anything to do with coaching. Your style of play is so defensive. You pack too many defenders and defensive midfielders. Good luck with your future endeavours.....
