The Federal High Court, Abuja on Friday ruled in favour of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) against the Nigeria Police, specifically the Officer-in-charge of Legal Matters, Mr. Adeniji, seeking to enforce an order of the Federal High Court, Lagos of September 2010 setting aside the NFF elections of August 2010.

Justice Philip Auta ruled that the Interlocutory Orders made by Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Lagos setting aside the NFF Board elections of August, 2010, which the Nigeria Police sought to enforce, consequent upon a petition by NANF (i.e removing the Board Members from their elective offices) did not survive the striking out of the suit No FHC/L/CS/962/2010, by the same Justice Okon Abang.

The Judge also declared that the invitation of NFF Executive Board Members by the Nigeria Police to appear for interview in connection with the order made by Justice Okon Abang in the earlier mentioned suit amounts to an illegal and unlawful interference with the Board Members’ right to liberty and freedom of movement as guaranteed by the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

In the same vein, the Judge issued an order of perpetual injunction prohibiting the Police by themselves, and all other officers, servants and functionaries and any other person or organisation from taking any further steps or actions towards the enforcement of any order made by Justice Okon Abang in the said suit FHC/L/CS/962/2010.

The NFF was represented in the case by former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Chief Akin Olujimi (SAN, CON), Dr. Joseph Nwobike (SAN) and Ibrahim Eddy Mark Esq.

Friday’s ruling brings to a conclusive end the long-running battle by players' body NANF, de-recognised by the NFA and FIFPro in 2007, to ‘enforce a court order’, which in their own understanding, still existed, despite the striking out of the original case in the same Federal High Court, Lagos.

one of our MANY problems in NIGERIA is that we OVER-RATE our players. We let sentiment cloud our judgement and the NFF think that because we are nigeria, all they need to do is put the nigerian jersey on ANY body and they will win the game.
Here are some facts.
Our best goal keeper (whom some of you guys here call the best goalie in the world) is a back-up at LILLE. He has not featured in any BIG game for that club and only once in Europe for them. I think he has only 3 appearances in the club. OVERRATED if ask me.

Our BEST back ( TAYE TAIWO) who in my opinion made the wrong decision to go to AC MILAN instead of ****nal as a free agent does not play regularly for AC Milan. he too has featured in about 3 games all season long. OVERRATED.
Our best mid-fielder (Whom some of you adore here although i think our best mid fielder is JOEL OBI) also has not been in the Chelsea BENCH talk more of start since his last screw up two weeks ago. MIKEL is not even in the FA cub squad, didn't play in Champions league game, didn't play last week and is not playing again NOW against Newcastle. MEANWHILE, JOEL OBI starts for INTER MILAN and plays well daily.
Our Best Forwards (Osaze, Anichebe, Uche (he plays well for Nigeria but not soo much for club), Nsofor, etc are not doing anything for their clubs. They are not household names and dont average 10 goals per season in their careers for their clubs.

THESE ARE THE FACTS.
Our football is on the decline.

Thats why I have no respect for some Judges in Nigerian, only God knows how much millions paid to this evil judge as a bribe by the evil crooks in NFF.Any able minded person in Nigeria knew that NFF is an illegal body. How on earth would any judge ruled in favour of these criminals who did not conduct any election?only a criminal judge will rule in favour these rat in the glass house.I'm a believer and i strongly believe that,Maigari,Green & co,will soon be history.

NFF can bribe a judge but they can't bribe 170 million Nigerians. They have failed the nation and they should quietly resign and hide thier ill luck faces in shame and never shown up in public anymore.

We are tired of hearing anything that has to do with 'qualifiers.'
We are really disappointed with the Football Federation and our over rated underperforming players and their lack-lustre performances.

WE NEED CHANGE NOW; The NFF should create a new consciousness by bringing in some foreign coaches to help the falling standard of our football.
Get a foreign coach to work with Keshi and also for the Falcons.

We lack good players in our present teams and most of our coaches are one-dimensional in tactics and lack quality and rarely brings the best out of our boys.

Some modest foreign coaches like Bruno Metsu, Claude Leroy and their likes will take same pay and incentives or little more to get the job done.

We do not want fall-guys and scapegoats after the horse has bolted!

1.) We want a change from top to bottom. The Sports Minister should resign and let a capable sports enthusiast like Orji Uzo Kalu be appointed.

2.) The Football Federation president (Maigari) should go and be replaced by Felix Anyasi Agwu.

3.)There are so many staff and too many hands that spoil the brook in the glass house; Dissolve the Technical committee, we had nothing like that during the days of our glory.

4.) A foreign technical adviser should be employed to work with Stephen Keshi.

5.) Sunday Oliseh/Ben Iroha should be given the Flying Eagles

6.) The Falcons should be given to a foreign coache to work with Florence.

7.) According to unbroken tradition, Eguavoen is already a gonner and shouldn't be given any space to even peep in.

Blackburn boss Steve Kean was pleased with his side's performance as they overcame Swansea 4-2 at Ewood Park, with special praise reserved for four-goal hero Yakubu.

The striker set Rovers on their way to a priceless win with a 20th-minute opener and finished the job from the penalty spot eight minutes from time before departing to a standing ovation.

But despite a win which lifted Rovers off the bottom of the Premier League table, Kean still felt the ire of some home fans who continued to chant for his dismissal.

He told Sky Sports: "I think the performance was excellent. I'm a big admirer of the way Swansea play.

"We felt that if we could keep them in front of us for most of the game, which I think we did. If you actually look at the game, just opportunities without possession, I think we've honestly shaded that in the chances.

"And then you get Yakubu and he can score any type of goal. He can score headers, he can score tap-ins, he can score goals like he scored the first goal.

"I think he's performed fantastically well today but I think a striker's only as good as his service and the service today was excellent."
Prolific

Yakubu became the first Rovers player to score four goals in a Premier League game and Kean wasn't surprised by the stat, saying: "It tells you he's prolific. I think it's the type of goals.

"Sometimes you get a striker who's predominantly good in the air, but he can score everything.

"You look at the goals he scored against ****nal with his little tap-ins. But I thought his first goal today was excellent and he's led the line very well."

With the safety gap down to just a point at the bottom of the table, Kean was even more pleased with the result, adding: "I set a target for the lads to go and get a run together and we feel as though we've taken the first step.

» NFF go foreign for top job

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) is reportedly set to appoint one of three foreign candidates to fill the vacant technical director post of the country.

Former Ethiopia and Namibia manager Tom Saintfiet is heavily tipped to land the job, but two other candidates are also in the running, according to an unnamed top official of the NFF.

"The Belgian coach (Saintfiet) comes highly recommended and has been shortlisted for the technical director job," the official told Mtnfootball.com.

"Two other expatriate coaches have also been shortlisted.

"They will soon be invited for interviews and the successful one among them with get the job."

The new man will be expected to fashion out a proper structure to help drive the game's development and success in Nigeria.

The 38-year-old, who has been severally linked with the Super Eagles job, will be expected to work closely with all the national team coaches to harmonise their programmes, targets and objectives.

Saintfiet has an impressive CV in Africa after successful stints with the Brave Warriors of Namibia and Ethiopia - the latter he led to within five minutes of a what would have been a famous win against Nigeria in Addis Ababa during the 2012 Nations Cup qualifiers, before Joseph Yobo equalised to end the game 2:2.

Former Nigerian international Sunday Oliseh had once been expected to fill the role.

Nigerian football has experienced a shocking decline in recent years with poor results across the different national teams, prompting increasing calls for the setting up of a proper developmental structure for the local game.

ANOTHER DISASTER!!!! WHAT HAS THIS SAINTFIT ACHIEVED IN FOOTBALL OTHER THAN "NEAR WIN" AGAINST NIGERIA IN ADDIS ABABA

Austin Eguavoen has quit as coach of Nigeria Olympic team after he failed to qualify the team to London 2012.

Nigeria’s Dream Team V failed to go past the group stage of the qualifiers in Morocco after they lost two games and won one.

His letter of resignation was forwarded to the chairman technical committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Chris Green.

“I hereby resign my post as coach of the national U23 team despite all the support I received from the NFF. I’m so sorry I couldn’t make it,” Eguavoen wrote in part.

Eguavoen has been involved in the national team set up since 2003, when he first handled the U17s and has been in charge of the full international side as well.

Eguavoen has taken full responsibility for his team’s failure to reach London 2012 after raising so much expectations in the earlier rounds of the qualifiers where they thumped Liberia, Equatorial Guinea and Tanzania.

“First of all football has given me what I have today. I thank every Nigerian for being there for me and giving me all the support needed for this tournament,” said the 46-year-old coach.

“We came into this tournament prepared. Losing Kingsley Udoh in the first game, just three minutes was a big blow.

“Our first half against Senegal was awful but we were in our best against a very technical Algeria but unfortunately we rose up to the occasion late.

"I apologise to Nigerians for our disappointing outing. I had an option to come and not to but I had confidence in this team, unfortunately it didn’t turn out the way we wanted. I am deeply sorry”.

Eguavoen said he hopes to take a two-month break and possibly return to work in the Nigeria Premier League.

“My contract is tied to this tournament with a target of reaching at least the semi-finals of the Olympics in London, but I have failed in that target. Right now I would just take two months out and maybe return to the local league,” he said.

The Former Super Eagles coach also spoke on the positives from the tournament.

“First we were able to redeem our image hoping that Morocco will keep their winning streak. But the biggest positive for me is that my ‘Skippo’ ( the Super coach Stephen Keshi) was here. As we all know, we are rebuilding and I believe he must have spotted players here that would help him in the national team.”

which yakubu are ppl here talkn abt??? Naijas no go use laugh kill me..was there ever a time dat yakubu didnt score lots of goals 4 club?was there ever a time his play made sense 4 SE??? Yakubu scored a hat trick 4 maccabi Haifa against Panathinaikos in champions league almost a decade ago but remains a passers-by 4 SE...Even if he scored 30goals per season he still wldnt click 4 SE...hez been there for 11yrs n scord only goals even a defender can score....he isnt in d class of julius aghahowa wen julius was in-form...Guyz,4get yakubu...lets try younger guyz springin up in europe n local league...
personally,i dnt think Austin Equavoen is a bad coach...He lost qualificatn of all african games against a Ghanaian side with over 85% black starz players..he playd dat game wit majority untestd home-based players..He gets good results wit foreign based players n d team dat lost in morocco seemed 2 pick up in da last game..wht is killn naija soccer is NFF...It takes time build n blend untested n unexposed home-based players in d cold weather of morocco...this NFF officials shld b d ones goin 2 europe 4 players release, not d coach...dats wht ghana does n its workn 4 dem...in naija som dull old foolz just stay in glasshouse n worry d coach abt...pathetic...all national teams failed n we are stil callin coaches??? nah...d virus are those dull NFF politicians..

@GoodLuuck J.

I just have a question for you. Please mention any Nigerian player who has scored more goals for Nigeria than Yak in the last 10 years. Actually the answer is none. For the record, Yak is the 3rd leading goalscorer of all time for Nigeria with 21 goals.

I'm not clamoring for having him back because I think he is too old to cope with both club and country football at same time right now. He should probably enjoy the last phase of his career. Maybe go make some money in Dubai/America after Blackburn...lol.

But seriously, one mistake will not wipe out his record.

Still on Yakubu. He is the Nigerian player with the highest top flight goals in the last 10years with 95 goals, that is even without counting the 11 goals he scored for Leicester City while on loan. The closest to him is Obagoal (84) even though Oba started playing top European flight 2 years earlier.

He has even scored more goals than any other Nigerian 'top' striker since the world cup blunder. Yakubu(21), Osaze (17), Nsofor (4), Ikechukwu (2).

The only strikers to have scored more are Ideye (25) and maybe Ujah(not sure of the number). I didn't rate them as top though since they are yet to prove themselves in the Eagles. I however believe this two could be the future and should be given a lot of encouragement and playing time.

I think NFF Technical Committee needs a revamp as it seems they obviously don't know the facts or don't know how to use it.

I rest my case.

@DavidBlaq,thanx 4 ur stats but its one we all knw abt..I hv my own questions for u, Dimitar BERBATOV was d top scorer for Manchester United last season n minus penalties, he was the top scorer in d english premier league but y doesnt he mak even d bench d season against younger players he is supported 2 be better than or more experienced than?mind u,he has no injuries oh... nw DavidBlaq, here is my point- the best striker isnt noted 2 be he than scorered the highest number of goals - CAPITAL NO...Its is he that scored d highest number of goals in relation 2 number of games playd n opportunities gotten n executed clinically...Since u like statistics lets look @ d stats more critically now, yakubu has 57/20, yekini had 58/37, aghahowa has 32/14 while obafemi martins has 37/18...nw except stats are suddenly wrong, 4 d last 10 yrs, our top scorers are:
(1) Obafemi Martins - 1 goal in every 2 games for SE
(2) Julius Aghahowa - 1 goal in every 2.2 games for SE
(3) Yakubu Aiyegbeni - 1 goal in every 2.8 games for SE

this is one way d world rates strikers...ever wonder y martins was nicknamed ObaGoal n Aghahowa nicknamed AghaWonder ? its bcos of the clinical nature of their goals...wht coaches call a striker's goal..but Yakubu,85% of his goals 4 SE has been sitters, coupled with over a dozen sitters he missed as well (e.g against south korea)..and mind u,he even has that number of goals bcos SE coachn has rotated around Amodu Shuiabu, his brother frm d same part of Edo state n person that actually transfered/sold him frm Julius Berger 2 Maccabi Haifa..he might hv 18goals but go ****yse d games he scored here: http://tinyurl.com/7r9xcfa then U will understand y he remains d weakest in dat list...

I rest my case...lol

every coach want a poacher in their team in the mould of yak,yes he scores goals for his clubs week in week out.but even the coaches and fans[of clubs he features for]always sing the latest gbedu[[[[feed the yak and he will score]]].should we blame the strikers for not scoring or the mid fielders for not opening up to strikers.

@ola dara, u are very funny....".....in d mould of YAK" which mould are u talkn abt???blieve or not dats hw d most successful coaches rate strikers..I need not 2 talk much..ma advise,go 2 youtube, watch d highlights of yekini, aghahowa n even emenike,,,,then watch dat of YAK n compare,u wil understand wht am talkn abt..his 1st goal against swansea was brilliant, just lik his first goal 4 blackburn.....He has scored far more goals than Ikechukwu Uche but both dnt belong 2 da same class in goal poaching..which yakubu ar u talkn abt??? Naijas ar so funny..luk,our best strikers presently are Ikechukwu Uche n Emmanuel Emenike...that partnership if well fine-tuned by a good SE's coach can erase d record of Yekini/Siasia partnership which remains d greatest..http://tinyurl.com/7bza5bz check out emenike's last goal there..yakubu scores lik jimmy floyd hasselbaink but did d dutch national team take him serious? NO...why? bcos of the kind of goals he scored...instead dey preferd Dennis bergkamp who scored less goals...check out Ikechukwu Uche goals here :http://tinyurl.com/7uzuleo ,n watch him tak on 4 defenders, then u will understnd me.dis is d guy ppl compare wit yakubu...Yakubu scores goals bcos he makes perfect decision, ONLY if he has d ball on his foot, facin d goal keeper, with no defender near him n is in d 18 yards area..FINISH.wht is d ball isnt on his foot, nor in 18 yards???.No naija striker in history has givn more back passes than yakubu.Except he is facn keeper n in 18 yard box wit no defender, its a back pass. ..watch emenike's goal's here :http://tinyurl.com/ygnxzs7 , does emenike need those criteria 2 score goals? Nw if u say Emenike hasnt cliqued 4 SE true, but hw many chances has he gotten? not even yekini started well, my proof : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YO2vEwl6Qpo .... @potential20, I am starting to believe that you are one of the think-tank of the image-making team of SCOAN. If you are wondering why I have the beautiful ****ysis on Yakubu to focus on your last comment, it is because of what fanatism and sycophancy in religious circle has done and is still doing in all sectors of life (not only football) in Nigeria.

I personally think the best prayer a sportsman can pray is to pray for luck and against injury. A lucky player will have his shot hit both cross bars before going in while an unlucky one will have the opposing goalkeeper be in the best form of his life and will do anything to thwart his effort at goal. Emphasis should be on hardwork and right planning and not rushing to meet a clergyman in the last minute,

Have you taken time to wonder why Tiger Woods was once referred to as the greatest player on planet earth? He is neither a Christian nor a Moslem. He is a Buddhist. At the time when he was even reigning, he was a womanizer. God probably rewarded his hardwork and planning despite the fact that he may not believe that there is God.

Back to your assertion, there were newspaper reports that Green and Eguavoen stopped in SCOAN before embarking on the jamboree trip to Europe. I called the trip jamboree because Haruuna Lukman, Rabiu Ibrahim, Anthony Ujah, nnamdi oduamadi, Ramon azeez whose release could not be secured did not even play a cumulative of 45 minutes in the course of Nigeria's participation in the tournament. Green and Eguavoen visited 2 - 3 weeks before the tournament yet the 'man of God' was claiming that if they had come earlier, things would have been different. My own God does not work that way. He answers prayers every minute and every time. We do not need a soothsayer or fortune teller to inform us that a victory against the host team which happens to be the first match was critical to success in the tournament with good teams like Algeria and Senegal being in the same group. Clergy men should emphasize HARDWORK and prayer but not prayer alone. Maybe if Eguavoen had focussed more on giving his wards the right tactics and going to his closet to pray to God that his efforts should be crowned, result would have been different. Only God knows how long they had to wait before seeing the 'man of God'. Coaches do not have to see Baba Adeboye or Oyedepo or Joshua before success can be guaranteed.

I hope I can be in the academic setting one day and will wait for a student ill-prepared for my exam one day banking on prayers. Oh, he will not only need prayer but fasting and speaking in tongue to blindfold me. Remember Satan was once the follower of God, hautiness and arrogance made him the most haunted enemy today. Our praise singing of these men of God, even if they are genuine, can only lead to one result which is destruction. Enough said.

Birikiti: 2011-12-05 14:12

@all,

I feel you really but I want to sound a note caution to Journalists & Nigerians clamouring for Yakubu's recall. His goals scoring record and ability has never been in doubt but his ability to give all to the National Team's cause is the issue.
Some have even said that Yakubu's style is the laid-back, goal poacher style. Well, most of these guys did not see him whilst he was breaking through the ranks nor did they watch him when he used to lead the line for Everton. For you information, he earned the nickname Yaku-Bull because he was seen as a natural successor to Daniel-The Bull-Amokachie (one with a better goals ratio than the SE graft man).
However, Yakubu lost interest in giving all for Nigeria along the line (IMHO, I think it was after being dropped by Onigbinde for 2002 WC).

My point is, no one has ever doubted Yakubu's talent but if we must invite him back to the SE, is he ready to graft, fight for the ball & generally lead the line well for Nigeria? Will he be a good example to the young ones & not be a negative influence (a la Tunisia 2004)? Is he ready to make sure he won't slow down our game and kill the enthusiasm of young, fast & enterprising players like Ahmed Musa, Joel Obi, Fengor Ogude....?

If Yakubu can answer all these questions in the affirmative & show same with his actions, then he's welcome back to the SE.
But if not, even if he scores a 100 goals for his club in a match, he will still not be any use to us in SE.

Over to Keshi!

It was indeed a terrible year for Nigerian Soccer. I watched Emmanuel TV yesterday and Prophet T.B Joshua said that the remedy to Nigeria's dwindling soccer is to stop quota system. He meant that if the players which can bring back glory for Nigeria , are from a Southern or Northern community, they should be allowed to represent Nigeria......if not , Nigeria will keep crumbling in soccer.
Personally , I agree with him 1,000,000,000%. So many players in the various Nigerian squads do not deserve to represent Nigeria.
Age cheat is not the problem, the famous '96 Olympic team was mainly over-aged players and they still won gold medal. Nowadays, Nff collect brown envelope and mandate a coach to field their own player, some top-shots in the Government also have candidates....how can we move forward with these trend ???????.
Anyway, we know our problems, it's just that majority of us are cowards.

However, in all situations , we should give thanks to God.

I wish to humbly use this medium to great my good friends in here, sometimes we need to disagree to agree. Most of our opinions are valid depending on the foundation of our reasoning.

Therefore,I wish @Val 'de clinical', @Amata plus, @futbal Aficionado, @Ken Ghadafi ( My fellow strongman), @Garvey, @Luis-Hero ( My man) , @Philosopher ( another strongman) , @Mimi, @Segun, @Dr Ike Acholonu and every passionate Nigerian , a MERRY XMAS AND A PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR in advance.

And for My Muslim brothers, Sanu dazua.

Game147 ( for men wey sabi) says may peace be with you all.

tnx @birikiti and @goodluck Jonathan for saying that truth. No one has been in doubt about Yakubu's club performance especially in Maccabbi, middlesborough, pompey, even Everton etc but the arguement is on his national committment. Judging from his performance in Angola and South Africa last year, one may begin to think that the green jersey was forced on him. The truth is that Yakubu is no longer a super Eagles material. Beckham was still in form but was dropped from English W/C squad last year, Del Pierro, Raul etc still play good football but they are no longer international soccer materials in their respective countries.
Yak's time is up!
