Amajita restored a little pride for South Africa at international level when they beat Mauritius 4-0 in the Metropolitan Cosafa Under-20 Youth Championships in Gaborone on Friday.
South Africa should have netted even more, but were let down by some poor finishing from the likes of Jerry Mxabo and Snethemba Ngidi.
Amajita goalkeeper Bongani Mpandle, meanwhile, was a spectator for the whole 90 minutes as the opponents struggled to go past the defence led by Junior Sibande and Mothokozisi Dube.
South Africa went into the break 2-0 up courtesy of goals by Snethemba Mngidi and Jerry Mxabo.
After many failed attempts, Amajita finally managed to get two more goals through and second half substitute Thabani Mthembu.
South Africa will now face Tanzania in their next match at the Cosafa Under-20 Youth tournament on Sunday.
Meanwhile, SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt says he will only release defender Grant Kekana for the tournament after tonight’s League game against Orlando Pirates.
“I would love to have released Kekana earlier, but the youngster had a good game against Kaizer Chiefs and I want to keep him for the game against Pirates on Saturday,” Hunt tells KickOff.com.
