Struggling First Division side Atlie FC have cut down their squad by a massive 11 players with former Orlando Pirates striker Reason Chiloane being one of the casualties in the clear out.
The decision to release players has been made by Sello Chokoe – who could now be in charge for the rest of the season following the firing of Kenny Ndlazi.
The list of players that have been told that they are no longer in the plans include Ayanda Makhura, Prince Kasongo, Mhlengi Sigwebela, Tumelo Mabyana, Moses Nxumalo, Siphakeme Sangweni (younger brother to Orlando Pirates defender Siyabonga), Thato Rametsi, Solomzi Makholwa, Lesiba ‘Shakes’ Masenya and Mpho Maruping.
All these players have already been told to stop training and are likely to get three months salary and their clearances with a few others likely to be loaned out to Vodacom League clubs in January.
The most notable name of the players that have fallen out of favour is Chiloane who only joined at the beginning of this season.
Also pushed out is goalkeeper Phumlani Thango.
Prior to the release of these players Atlie had a squad of almost 40 players.
