Paa Kwasi Fabian is confident he can restore Ghana to a major force at Under-17 level after taking over the reigns as national Under-17 coach.
The former Heart of Lions and Asante Kotoko boss will work with another former Kotoko coach with the Starlets, who have played a key role in the production line of Ghanaian talent but which has struggled to impress in recent years.
Ghana won the Under-17 World Cup twice in 1991 and 1995 and finished as finallists in 1993 and 1997, with some of the players going on to have succesful national team careers.
But the Starlets have faded off recently and have missed the last two African championships and the World Cups.
Fabian says against that background he understands what he has to do in his new job.
"When I met the committee members alongside my assistant we spent close to an hour," he says.
"They have told us the Starlets is a very special project for the Football Association. Everyone wants to see Ghana develop well at that level."
