Victories for Blackburn Rovers, University of Pretoria and Thanda Royal Zulu mean that the top three sides in the National First Division have broken away from the chasing pack.
Rovers bounced back to record a 2-0 away win over big-spending Atlie FC, AmaTuks overpowered Vasco da Gama by the same score while Thanda narrowly beat FC AK 1-0.
Dumisani Mcedani's side set Sinaba Stadium alight with goals from Linda Shiba and Samkelo Ndletyana, putting the Eastern Cape outfit two points ahead of AmaTuks, who can thank Chibuzor Nwogbo and Thokozani Sekotlong for their second-half strikes.
Joseph Mthombeni ensured Thanda keep pace.
There were also interesting wins in the Mother City for Chippa United and FC Cape Town which sees both outfits level with Vasco on 17 points but seven adrift of Neil Tovey's team.
On Friday night, Chippa scored their second consecutive 3-1 home victory, punishing bottom-of-the-log United FC at Philippi.
This was Duncan Lechesa's first game in charge of the Kimberley club but his experienced counterpart, Mlungisi 'Professor' Ngubane, showed who was better qualified.
Young Thabang Makgabutlane opened the scoring for United but also netted an own-goal as the home side took charge with good finishes from Philani Dlamini and Roscoe Petersen.
On Sunday in Parow, Errol Dicks' club thrashed a 10-man Sivutsa Stars 3-0 with Asavela Mbekile getting the first before Prince Nxumalo hit a brace.
Kaizer Chiefs' reject Michael Nkambule was instrumental in the early stages, following some clean passes from midfield, but his temperament got the better of him, leading to an early shower as Stars wilted under pressure.
Mpumalanga Black Aces finally produced some good form giving Carara Kicks a 3-0 hiding at the Rand as new-signing Phumelele Bhengu grabbed a pair with Lottie Phiri also on the scoreboard.
There was some joy for Bay United who managed to sneak a 1-0 away win over Dynamos at Giyani thanks to Majalefa Mphuti's effort but the clash between African Warriors and Witbank Spurs ended goalless.
