United FC won't honour fixture

Struggling First Division side United FC are adamant that they will not honour their mid-week clash against Vasco da Gama at the GWK Stadium in Kimberley on Wednesday.

"We are not going to honour that fixture, I've been hassling with the PSL to tell them I cannot play. The initial fixture was set for Saturday, October 22, but last week Tuesday they told us to make it a mid-week match," United's general manager Richard Makhoba tells KickOff.com.

"My players arrived back by road from Giyani on Monday morning, so this game won't take place, Also, we can't get the ground unless we make prior arrangements.

"I told the PSL I'm not going to play this fixture. United never gave anyone consent to move it from Saturday to Wednesday."

Meanwhile, Vasco da Gama director Phillip Ribeiro has confirmed that his team flies directly from Cape Town to Kimberley today as he has not been advised otherwise.

look the rules allow the psl / safa regions for amateur footbal to change fixtures provided a certain notice period is given...united will donate 3 point if they fail to honour. whose problem is it that they had to drive and it wont be a situation perculiar to them only.
