Badu warns against CAN 2012 expectations

Emmanuel Agyemeng Badu has warned that is premature to assume Ghana are favourites for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea next year.
Badu was part of the Ghana squad that lost the 2010 Final to Egypt in Angola. With the six-time champions absent, along with Nigeria and Cameroon, there is genuine belief the Black Stars can triumph and end the country's 30-year wait for the Nations Cup.
Ghana Football Association president Kwesi Nyantekyie says "it is only a matter of course" that Ghana is favourite in 2010 but Badu is being cautious.
"It is too early to start saying we will win, that we are favorites," he tells KickOffGhana. "A lot of things can happen between now and January next year when the competition begins.
"The fact that so many big names are not there won't make it any easier. We will have to work very, very hard for it."
Badu will be a key member of the Black Stars in Angola, having stormed his way into a regular starting place in the national side and at his club side Udinese this year.
"I am delighted to be playing regularly for Ghana," he says. "It is a huge honour, especially when you consider the quality of midfielders we have in our side."
