PSL teams face the League's Disciplinary Committee on Wednesday

DC to hear six cases this week

Posted: 2011-10-10 10:46

Four PSL and two First Division clubs will this week be hauled before the League's Disciplinary Committee to answer various charges of indiscipline.

Black Leopards, Moroka Swallows, Jomo Cosmos, Platinum Stars, Sivutsa Stars and Dynamos will appear before the PSL DC on Wednesday.

Also charged individually alongside their clubs are two club officials – Comfort Mkhatshwa and Patrick Malabela of Sivutsa Stars and Dynamos, respectively.

In a statement, the PSL says that Black Leopards are being charged with failure to comply with the kit manual, following their Absa Premiership match against Golden Arrows on August 24 2011 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

"The sponsors logo used on the jersey was the incorrect one. In the same match, the jerseys of at least two players did not comply with Rule 9.2 of the kit manual which states that the total area for sponsor advertising on the front of jerseys should not be more than 200 square cm. The sponsor advertising on the front of two players' jersey was 300 square cm," says the PSL.

"Sivutsa Stars, along with club official, Comfort Mkhatshwa will appear before the PSL DC on charges of club official misbehaviour and unsporting behaviour. This incident occurred on 10 September 2011 in the match between Witbank Spurs and Sivutsa Stars at the Ackerville Stadium.

"Mkhatshwa after being dismissed from the technical area by the referee made gestures suggesting that the match officials received money from Witbank Spurs. He also used abusive language to the referee."

Swallows will answer charges of a player's jersey number not corresponding with the jersey number on the team sheet, after Lerato Chabangu wore jersey number 14 while on the team sheet, he was allocated as wearing jersey number 39, in their league game against Free State Stars on September 14. This was a contravention of both Rule 6 of the kit Manual, which is incorporated in the League's Compliance Manual and Rule 12.7 of the League Rules.

Cosmos face charges of failure to submit a team sheet timeously, after they acted in contravention of Schedule C of the Media Manual, which is incorporated in the League's Compliance Manual in that they failed to submit the provisional team sheet at the match meeting in their Sinaba Stadium game against SuperSport United on September 17 2011.

Dynamos and club official Malabela will face charges of club official misbehaviour and unsporting behaviour, following an incident that occurred on September 17 in their match against Mpumalanga Black Aces.

The League charges that Malabela, along two other people, forced their way into the tunnel and used threatening and abusive language towards the referee.

Dikwena are being charged with contravening Rule 10.4 of the National Soccer League Rules, following a protest by Golden Arrows regarding their September 14 league game at the King Zwelithini Stadium, in which did not have their player identity cards for the pre-match inspection and fielded players in the match without player registration cards.
