Enyimba boss confident of progress

Enyimba chairman Felix Anyansi-Agwu is upbeat about the club's chances of progress to the Final of the CAF Champions League despite suffering their first defeat of the competition.

The People's Elephant succumbed to a late late goal when Pascal Angan got his head on the end of a finely delivered free-kick on 89 minutes.

"It is not over yet. In a knockout game like this, it is normal for a team to go all out when they play at home in the first leg and that is what they have done.

"We have to put this result behind us and and prepare for them in Aba," Anyansi says.

Enyimba will now need to double that score, or win by a two goal margin if the Moroccans score, but Anyansi insists that Enyimba, two-time winners in the past, have the experience to do the necessary.

"We are an experienced side. They will see a different Enyimba in the return leg, I can assure you.

"We know what we have to do to get to the final, so we are going to work hard.

"Our fans should not be worried at all. To take a lone goal defeat into the return leg is actually a positive thing for us.

"If they had scored two or three goals, it would have been different but its just a single goal so nothing changes for us."

The chairman, who has been at the helm since 2001, and overseen their two previous triumphs, is clear about the club's focus.

"Our focus is to lift the Cup for the third time and represent Africa at the Club World Cup."

The return leg comes up on October 16 in Aba.

Enyimba will surely nip this in the bag. There is no stopping them.

My suggestion is a psychologist should be employed to strengthen the mental toughness of the players.

Up Enyimba!

Al Hilal will beat Enyimba again at Aba stadium because they are playing carpet football and attacking in numbers as a team

Segun: 2011-10-03 20:30

why does Nigeria have so many enemies? enemies within and without. Zakumi, Enyimba did not play Al Hilal but Wydad Casablanca. It is even unsure whether Al Hilal will qualify for the final as the team was whipped at home by Esperance.

I trust Enyimba. They have a die-hard spirit. Return leg : Enyimba 4-0 Wydad.

i trust my team we shall definetely qualify. for the first time Enyimba play defensive game in a waway match, that months the pressure and the keeper could not time very well for that nodding. but i am confident that we shall beat them when they come to Aba. 2 - 0 against WAC
