Kaizer Chiefs and Bloemfontein Celtic draw 0-0

Posted: 24 September 2011 Time: 20:22

Bloemfontein Celtic and Kaizer Chiefs played to a goalless draw in their Absa Premiership match at Seisa Ramabodu on Saturday evening.

A point apiece was a fair result from a game that saw each side dominate a half – neither was able to capitalise on their dominance, despite creating some decent opportunities.

Apart from an early long-range effort by winger Phenyo Mongala that forced Itumeleng Khune into a smart save, Phunya Sele Sele hardly threatened in an attacking sense in the first 45 minutes.

Instead, it was Chiefs who enjoyed the majority of possession and they duly created a handful of chances; the best of which fell to defender Tefu Mashamaite. He got on the end of a Siphiwe Tshabalala cross from a short corner kick, but his downward header bounced into the ground and looped over the crossbar.

The home team were better after the break and began to force Amakhosi onto the back foot. Their best opportunity arrived eight minutes after the restart when Mongala got behind the defence, but opted to cut the ball back rather than shoot – Clifford Mulenga put his shot wide of the target.

From that point the game was open and both teams created further half chances. Though it remained goalless all the way to full-time, there was always the sense that a goal was just around the corner.

The result sees Chiefs move back to the top of the standings – temporarily at least. They top the log on goal-difference from Ajax Cape Town, though they could be knocked off pole position by Mamelodi Sundowns and/or SuperSport United in what remains of the weekend.

Let's be honest,VV is losing the plot.Firstly, it's idioic to play Tinashe, Yeye & Bayoyi together unless there's a goal to defend. Secondly, Nale shuld have come on for Dladla. Majoro was better than Ngcobo, so I don't know which game VV was watching when he took out Majoro. Lastly, the Zimbabwean guy shuld have come on for Yeye, bt he wasn't even on the bench. Chiefs won't win the league under this VV 'cause he seems confused. Let the Kaizer fire him.

Khosi fans,we must just be realistic. VV is among the most talkative coaches in the media, but he falters where it matters most-delivering good results. Our team is too slow & predictable going foward. No defence splitting passes, wing play- critical for pinpoint crosses & goals- is missing. Tenashe is greater but the likes of Parker & Majoro likes a creative player in the mould of the old Jabu Pule behind them. Yeye is fine bt he sits too far back creating a gulf between the strikers & midfielders. Shabba is forced to drift this side & that way with little effect. This VV doesn't know how to use the players to good effect...

Someone should tell VV that all those fans who pack the stands wee in & week out deserve better. He has been around for 3 yrs now & we will not accept another season of playing draws.Every game we play worse in the second half.If he does not know what to say or do he must pack it in.

We need a killer instinct. We were in control in the first hakf and should have killed it off.Against Ajax we did the same. That's 5 points unnecessarily given away and they count at the end.A little imagination is needed on the pitch & that is VV's job.

That was the best game i have ever watched so far this season, with that attitude i see makhosi going places but we missed parker though we are log leaders
