Zimbabwe’s long ongoing investigation into match-fixing allegations involving their national team, the Warriors, has taken a new turn, with the suspension of three top Zifa officials.

The three board members, Methembe Ndlovu, Solomon Mugavazi and Kennias Marange, have been suspended from all football activities pending their appearance before the Zifa ethics committee.

According to minutes of the board meeting held on Friday night, action was taken against the three after they were named in a second Asiagate report as having participated in the match-fixing scandal that rocked the country.

The Zifa board have still to meet to decide the fate of the players, a number of whom ply their trade in South Africa, identified in the report.

Ndlovu is the Zifa board member development, Mugavazi is the Northern Region chairman while Marange is the association's vice president.

The board also resolved to set up an ethics committee which will be commissioned by the Zifa President Cuthbert Dube on Tuesday.

The committee will comprise six members of which three must come from the football fraternity. A judge, a retired Zimbabwe republic police commissioner and a lawyer are also part of the committee.

The ethics committee will have to meet with the Fifa security team that is expected in Zimbabwe this month.

The board also resolved that allegations bordering on criminality contained in the report would be dealt with by law enforcement agents and that the report on the Asiagate scandal would also be given to the Anti-Corruption Commission.
