Moroka Swallows beat AmaZulu 1-0 in a League match thanks to an 89th minute winner from Ashraf Hendricks on Saturday night.
Both sides started slowly with most of the action restricted to the midfield but started to create meaningful chances as the half progressed.
Tangeni Shipahu had a half-chance to put Usuthu ahead in 17th minute but Hendricks reacted well to block the strikers headed attempt.
Ten minutes later Greg Etafia was alert enough to save a dangerous in swinging corner from Moses Chavula that needed the slightest of touches.
Moroka Swallows had a chance at the other end when Siyabonga Nomvete found his captain Lefa Tsutsulupa in the 51st but his shot failed to hit the target.
Bennett Chenene tried to lob the ball over Tapuwa Kapini a minute later but the experienced goalkeeper was alert enough to keep his shot away.
The best chance of the half fell for Stanton Lewis in the 38th minute after receiving a well-weighted pass from Dumisani Zwane but he sent his shot wide.
Usuthu came out as the better side in the second half with more chances for the likes of Shipahu and Zwane but inaccurate finishing kept the score unchanged.
They were eventually punished for their wastefulness in the 89th minute when Ashraf Hendricks nodded the ball into the back of the net after receiving a cross from Lefa Tsutsulupa.
Swallows have now won their second match in a row, but problems continue for Usuthu as they search for that elusive win.
