Lamontville Golden Arrows have secured their first points of the season after a 3-1 victory over Platinum Stars at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Wednesday night.

A brace from Zambian international Collins Mbesuma and a third via the head of Musa Bilankulu set Arrows on their way, before Terrence Mandaza netted a late consolation for Dikwena.

The home side were ahead on 31 minutes when Mbesuma scored from the spot, at the second attempt, after Philani Shange had been brought down by JJ Mpangase.

The Zambian’s first effort was saved, but Stars keeper Etame Soppo was adjudged to have moved too far off his line and the Zambian had a second chance which he converted.

Stars might have leveled almost immediately as they won a penalty of their own two minutes later for a push by Bilankulu on Thuso Phala, but home keeper Virgil Vries saved Henrico Botes’ spot-kick.

Mbesuma doubled the home side’s lead just past the hour mark when he collected a ball from Mzivukile Tom and picked his spot to score.

It was 3-0 with just four minutes remaining as Bilankulu powered home a header to give the scoreline an emphatic look, before Mandaza got a consolation just on the final whistle.

Bobby please bring Mbesuma back home where he belong. That Ngcobo guy is not doing it for us, he lacks severly in confidence and he losses focus with just 1 mistake. We need a box striker to allow speedey and clever player like Majoro to move around him.
