Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah is keen to guarantee the country a football medal at the ongoing All Africa Games in Maputo when his Olympic side takes on Cameroon in the semifinal.
Victory against the defending champions will guarantee Ghana a place in the top two and ensure they will come home with a medal.
And while Appiah wants that medal to be gold, he knows they must deal with the business of qualifying for the final first.
Appiah is effectively on some kind of trial with the Olympic team after working as Black Stars assistant since the 2008 Nations Cup. And he reckons he has done enough work on the side to guarantee victory over the Cameroonians.
"We have to work on the areas of weaknesses and be more clinical in front of goal," Appiah said.
"I require a good and performance in the next game. At least that is the only game we can think of for now and we are motivated to win."
Ghana started the competition with a loss against South Africa before recovering to beat hosts Mozambique 4-3. But even in that game there were signs of major weaknesses after Ghana conceded a three-goal advantage. Appiah wants his team to cut out those mistakes against Cameroon.
"We allowed in three avoidable goals in the last match. That could have been avoided. I am hopeful that we won repeat the same mistakes."
