Orlando Pirates captain Lucky Lekgwathi insists they are ready for anything Kaizer Chiefs might throw at them in tonight’s MTN8 Final at Soccer City.

Amakhosi are in fine form, having won all three their League matches so far to top the League standings, but Lekgwathi says the Buccaneers have prepared well to defend their title.

“We have been working very hard at training for this final, and I can put my head on the block now and declare that we are ready for Chiefs,” he says on his column on Pirates’ official website.

“We know that we are coming up against a good team all around; and I think that has helped a lot as regarding our focus and leaving no stone unturned during our preparations.

“The competition is high at training as everyone wants to play. The fact that they beat us in the Telkom Knockout final last season motivates us even more to make them feel the same pain.”

Lekgwathi has also called on Pirates’ fans to play their part and inspire the team to victory.

“This is one game which requires no motivation to attend. As I have pleaded with each and every one of you last week to buy match tickets on time, I hope you will be the greater part of the 78 000 seats put up for sale at the stadium on Saturday.

“Remember, it’s our trophy at stake and we have a great chance to defend it. As you know you played a major part to take us through thus far, now it’s the time to reap what we sow, but we can only achieve this if we are together.”

Some people are confident, I really envy you guys for speaking your lungs out based on something that is beyond your control...Chiefs are banking on Yeye who has not played this season at all to compete against Jali and Manyisa...Pirates should know that Josephs always gets too emotional on Derbies and makes many mistakes, If Ngcobo or Masango is there our defence is likely to make mistakes..

Chiefs defence is so slow for the hard working running tlou..the form and the accuracy of Dladla is just unignorable.

All am trying to say is no history will come to play..Chiefs forgot that after the games we lost we stil played them and they failed to beat us...
And this history never said Pirates nevr won against them in a final, so no one can be comfortable and say it is not possible.
So there is more reason to be worried for both camps.

The way i see it Pirates want it more than Chiefs, let me rephrase that Pirates are not after the cup but after silencing any doubt that they are the best team currently in SA, these boys are after Domination...in thier minds they are the African Champions and to realise that dream they have to beat any and evrything that is labelled as the best.

Jali a boy born in Matatiela, not many players come from there that tells you of the character in that boy, the desire and hunger for even greater success. With a player like that in any team you can achieve even greater exploits.
