Benni McCarthy keeping Orlando Pirates calm for MTN8 Final

Benni helps Bucs for Final

Posted: 2011-09-09 09:03

Orlando Pirates striker Thulasizwe Mbuyane says the advice the team has received this week from Benni McCarthy has helped them prepare for the MTN8 Final.

McCarthy is suspended for the match against Kaizer Chiefs, after a controversial red card in the League against Maritzburg United on August 24, but Mbuyane says he has been using his experience in Europe to keep the players calm.

"Benni is such a good motivator and he has played in massive, massive games. He has played and won a [Uefa] Champions League final!" Mbuyane tells KickOff.com.

"He is disappointed not to be able to play, but that has not stopped him helping as much as he can this week and he has been talking to the guys.

"He always gives such good advice, after all he has been coached by some of the best in the world, like Jose Mourinho, so he knows the right things to say and when to say them.

"He is a really good guy and he works really hard, it is such a pity he can't play this weekend but that's football …"

Mbuyane scored twice when Pirates won their last knockout final, beating Black Leopards in the Nedbank Cup decider in May, and he is hoping for more goals on Saturday.

"We want to prove that the three trophies we won last season was not a fluke as some people have been saying. We are in our fourth final in a row so that we have shown that we have been consistently good enough to reach this stage.

"I want to score and help the team win on Saturday because that is how you get remembered by a player; scoring goals in the big games."

chiefs has never been so sure of defeat than now, can c the talk everywhere, this cup is for Bucs, if they loose, its their fault!

Nkanyim : 2011-09-09 09:38

They should have signed this Madala as a striker coach, not as a player, he is finished now...!!!

joe banana : 2011-09-09 09:39

why morons like juju always promise 2 score against chiefs beats me, cause none of them ever achieve that promise, ask jayiya, ndulula, camara, billiat, wana, sibisi.....all these morons will tell u their promises never materialised, so juju, the same will happen 2 u, chiefs is not sundowns.

gwanyana: 2011-09-09 09:40

Watch out for Sthembiso Ngcobo (remember him from Telkom Final). He is still around. The latest from amakhosi camp is that he might start the game to give a coach more dept option in terms of substitutions towards the end of the game just make sure that we go for a kill.

Van der Vaart: 2011-09-09 09:45

Your red was controversial and I think this was a blessing in desgz bcos you will have a proper execuse on Monday."I was not part of the team".

Treble Champ: 2011-09-09 09:52

Its the first time I'm hearing a Pirates player speaking prior to this Derby as all the noise was coming from Naturena throughout the week.

This Cup is guaranteed a place in Parktown, we cannot afford to concede this trophy to Chiefs NO I REFUSE!!

lordjerry : 2011-09-09 09:55

Finally acredible individual benni motivate you and pinaar are our legends not Radebe. Who will ever forget the 2 goals you scored to eliminate Man U. We remember that lucas found leeds united fighting for the league and made them relegation candidates eventually relegating them.

Orlando Pirates is the only team in South Africa with the opportunity to play 4 cup finals. 1 champions league. 2 mtn8. 3 TKO. 4 Nedbank cup.

Last season when other teams were given a break we were playing the nedbank cup semi-finals. When other psl teams were drouning in their sorrows and the season had ended for every psl team. We were celebrating a league trophy and yet our players were unable to celebrate because their season was still on.

To V.V that is the history people will remember and the future with a difference. Football 101 is a course at the University of Orlando.

Dankie 'Champ Lordjerry'...
4 Cup finals in a row is another milestone for a PSL team.
11 South Africans in the starting line-up in the season so far, is another milestone in for any PSL team.
Many will notice that there'll be 6 Bafana players, 3 S.A Under 23 players against Zanu PF and all other PSL teams.
After having won the Uefa Champios League after a memorable Man of the Match perfomance in the Semis against Manchester United. After having won the Golden Boot in Afcon '98. After having become the 2nd leading goalscorer(behind Didier Drogba) in the EPL, Benni had this to say on 02/08/2011..'' It's an honour for me to be playing for the Biggest team in Africa'
'The Dream Team'...sails on!!!

Champ "Superbrand": 2011-09-09 10:21

How I wish Benni was going to play this final, I am sure he was going to score. He is such a classy player. I hope he will teach these boys how to finish and share the ball more. I am not afraid of Zebras, i am only afraid of the match officials. I am happy our coach knows why its so important to approach matches of these kind with confidence. that way there will be no freebies like the ones they got when we lost in the final. No back passes for Ngcobo and no own goals,No match officials help, The Chimps will lose.

I cant wait for SuperChamps Vs SuperChimps.

To all the Champs out there....
'Black Saturday'...will go down in history as one of our most memorable derbies, as a soccer lecture will be conducted to all soccer loving people of the world. We call it black Saturday because we'll be wearing Black to show our heartfelt condolences for the victims of such a tragedy. My appeal to all the fans of that 'Yellowish, Zanu PF, scrambled eggs, Zebra's draped in chicken dust oil, Zimbabwe & Burundi refugee camp...is to recover quickly after the Rugby score drubbing. As on the 17th of September...'Red Saturday' will be witnessed by all and sundry, because most South Africans will be glued to their screens witnessing their 'Prodigal Son', Benni scoring the first hat-trick in more than a decade in a derby..(Remember Jerry Skhosana). So there you have it...'Black Saturday' (Eggs'r'Chips burial) will be followed by 'Red Saturday'...(after tears) where '***y football' will be on display.
Lastly...after 'Red Saturday' I appeal to Shabba, Parker, Majoro and Dladla to minimise their 'groupie' antics, like going up to Benni for an autograph, jersey swopping, kisses..all that gay stuff associated with 'Gays'R'Cheap'.
'The Dream Team'...sails on!!
