Enyimba eyeing win against Al Hilal

Posted: 2011-09-08 14:38

Enyimba are hoping to snatch victory against Al Hilal in Omdurman when they play their match day five game of the CAF Champions League on Friday.

The last time the two teams met, the Sudanese gave the west Africans a scare in Aba in a game that ended 2-2.

Enyimba know the tough task ahead of them and are resolute in snatching a win to make them more comfortable ahead of the last group matches in a fortnight.

“Definitely, we are going there to win. Pressure will be on Hilal because they will want to impress their fans. They are a strong side having held us in Aba, and it will be tough but we are confident,” team official Okey Nwabeke told SuperSport.com.

“If they can achieve a draw in Nigeria what stops us from picking three points and consolidating our position?” said Nwabeke.

Enyimba’s last group game will be against Cameroonians Coton Sport in Aba while Hilal will be away to Raja Casablanca.

Enyimba lead the group with eight points followed by Hilal’s seven, while Coton Sport and Raja are third and fourth with four and two respectively.

PLS ANYBODY WHO HAS ANY MEANS SHOULD HELP TO NOTIFY THE GOVT OF THIS...

So far, we have over 200 Nigerians being detained in various parts of Libya. We do not know their fate. We are praying that they will not be killed like other black migrant workers. The general pattern is that the rebels mount roadblocks and everytime black people are sighted in a bus, they will quickly arrest them and hound them into various cells in the city." Brazil outlast brave Nigerians
Brazil had to endure a stiff test in their quarter-final against Nigeria, beating the Beach Eagles 10-8 in extra-time to the reach the last four of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2011 in Ravenna.

Kudos to the Beach Eagles for a good game.
God bless Nigeria

mczmusdmerciful: 2011-09-08 22:16

Brazil looked the sharper side in the extra period, settling the affair 10-8 thanks to goals from Andre and Bruno. The Nigerians were sprawled on the sand after the scintillating game, and they go home with their heads held high. Brazil will now meet Portugal in a marquee semi-final meeting.

@Felix , you 're spot on. I'm die-hard Enyimba fan not because of ethnicity but because of Enyimbas consistency. I so much love this club. Enyimba plays with so much resilience , replica of what we used to see in our National teams during 80s and 90s which suddenly dissipated from our National teams for almost eleven years now. I remember Nigerian teams which could come back from 3 to 4 goals down and still win. The Super Eagles should watch Enyimba and borrow some 'UMUABA RESILIENT SPIRIT' for their subsequent matches. Nigeria could have beaten Argentina if they had Enyimba die-hard spirit....its optional for anyone to disagree but the obvious must be stated.
Super Eagles have the talent but the resilient Spirit has dissipated to oblivion .
However, this is not the right article to make comments concerning the Super Eagles/Argentina match, but in my humble opinion, the Super Eagles did well.
I'm not sure Vincent Enyeama would have have conceded those three goals especially the second and third.
We need Onyekachi Apam in the Super Eagles urgently . Messi couldn't have ran past Onyekachi Apam like that in the build up to the second goal. What those defenders needed was to throw a sliding challenge at Messi , which will surely disrupt his runs but the defenders were scared of committing foul out of inadequate self believe. Onyekachi Apam is never afraid of throwing clinical sliding tackles and that's one of the basic credentials of a good sweeper.

Apart from the mistake Mikel Obi made when he lost the ball to Messi, he impressed me. Mikel is very creative, just one surge in Argentine 18 yards and it resulted in Nigeria's only goal. Ogude was outstanding too.
If Vincent Enyeama had been in goal, then the match would have ended in 1-1 scoreline.
The Super Eagles should also boost their psychology and approach towards games especially when they are behind. They were demoralized by the third goal and especially the manner in which it was scored, but I think if they had a die-hard spirit, they would've equalized or even won , because the SE played better in the second half.

Chinedu Ogbuke is a star. In football , you need to utilize any opportunity that comes your way.
I'm not convinced with Brown Idaye, but lets see what happens against Guinea and Ghana.

I wish Enyimba, Siasia, Super Eagles and The Federal Republic of Nigeria well.

My good people of Federal Republic of Naija , I don talk finish sha, mek I take two bottles of 1759....nothing do us. Una welu done o.

Anti siasia : 2011-09-09 00:11

Get siasia sacked! (GSS) He is destroying the team. It is time for a northerner. Period

Omo 9ja: 2011-09-09 00:29

Stephen Keshi has voiced his support for national team gaffer, Samson Siasia, in his bid to stamp his authority in matters that have to do with discipline among players of the Super Eagles.

The former Nigerian captain who led tiny Togo to qualify for the 2006 FIFA World Cup held in Germany spoke to Complete Sports on Tuesday from his base in the United States of America moments after the the Super Eagles crashed 3-1 to Argentina in an international friendly match in Bangladesh.

The 'Big Boss', as he was fondly called during his playing days was reacting to the absence of first choice goalkeeper,Vincent Enyeama, from the national team line-up for the second time in successive games.

"Enyeama did not play? And he did not also play in the match against Madagascar? That is serious; but what is the problem? ," he asked rhetorically.

"I think these are crucial matches that require the best hands available. But then Siasia is in-charge, he has absolute control and I have always insisted on high level of discipline for any team to move forward."

"However, he should watch it so that it does n't get to a level where it will affect the unity of the team," he added.

Enyeama was ommitted from the match as Siasia said he wanted to give second choice goalkeeper, Dele Aiyenugba, the much needed opportunity to gain confidence.

But there were insinuations that his absence could be a direct response to the mutiny in camp prior to the team's departure to Madagascar which Enyeama was alleged to have masterminded even though it was later resolved in Antananarivo.

It was in similar circumstance that Siasia had handed a two-match suspension to West Bromwich Albion forward,Osaze Odemwingie, who left the camp after the match against Ethiopia in Abuja without the coach's permission.

Keshi also heaped praises on Siasia for his decision to hand the captain's armband to midfielder John Obi Mikel in the much publicised international friendly game against Argentina.

"It's a good decision; since (Joseph) Yobo was not available and Vincent Enyeama too, I think it was thoughtful of Siasia to have asked Mikel to lead the team."

"Leadership is a virtue and it is good for him to start to learn the ropes at this point in time. It will only make him a better player."

The former New Nigeria Bank Football Club of Benin captain further played down the 3-1 defeat by the South American football superpowers.

"We are re-building; this is the first defeat the team has suffered in the new dispensation, so it's not bad at all. It has to be an elimination by substitution kind of thing, and I hope we get better."

"The most important games are the one in Madagascar which we won and the next one against Guinea coming up next month in Abuja which will make us qualify for the Nations Cup," Keshi said.

The Super Eagles were without five key players like Joseph Yobo, Taye Taiwo,Victor Anichebe, Osaze Odemwingie and Vincent Enyeama in Tuesday's international friendly match against Argentina.
God bless Nigeria!

Nigerian Football: White Lies in Dark Times

Birikiti: 2011-09-09 20:56

@All,

I believe many of us did not get the whole picture of the drama that played out last week, so let me share some facts with you

#1 - We had a crucial, must win qualifer against Madgascar which required proper planning & total concentration

#2 - Late arrival cost us dearly in Ethiopia hence the need to travel early at least 3 days before the match.

#3 - Arik airlines (who have bigger planes) embarassed Nigeria when we travelled to Guinea last year by delaying departure after the match by 6-7 hours hence our players couldn't return to their clubs on time. This necessiated the arrangement with Air Nigeria who have smaller planes for charter (please note that bigger doesn't mean safer but less comfy of course)

#4 - Siasia had all plans worked out & communicated to players as they arrived camp. Enyeama was one of the last to arrive on Tuesday night (he took permission to see to some personal issues). Howbeit, all went well in camp until he showed up on Tuesday night & kicked against the travel arrangements prefering to go on Friday in a larger plane than on Wednesday with the Air Nigeria charter

#5 - Siasia met with him & others to let them know that he understands their complaint but that it was too late to start changing plans. They were adamant & stuck to their guns. The coach took count & saw that he had17 players willing to travel to be joined by 3 in Madagsacar, so he ordered those willing to travel to go in the team bus to the airport. Kalika opted to stay & try to persuade the remaining 4 to join up, which they eventually did via a private car.

#6 - Head coach decides that Enyeama will not be in the right frame of mind to keep goal in such an important match seeing he came to camp all fired up for militancy. He's dropped for the match, his deputy keeps a clean sheet & Nigeria wins. Enyeama then asks to be left out of the friendly with Argentina & was obliged

#7 - Nig loses the friendly to Argentina & Enyeama apologises for choosing the wrong time to stir up controversy. NFF very angry but leaves subsequent secision on the matter to the coach.

End of narration

This is the wikileaks version of the whole drama, lol. So now people can comment more insightfully.

IMHO, Siasia has to show he is boss even if it means the so called best platers are dropped (remember these players have not won anything for Nigeria so I dont see them in the same class as the '90s guys)

Question I always ask (from anyone old enough to remember), who could have tried this with Westerhof & gotten away with it? Many tried but were promptly sanctioned so why are we castigating Siasia? Ther can only be one captain in a ship!

Birikiti: 2011-09-09 21:53

Enyimba have beaten Hilal 2-1. They are looking very good for this year's CL! Well done guys, you do well.
