First Division log leaders University of Pretoria have quietly snapped up Philani Khwela and Guinea midfielder Seydouba Soumah from SuperSport United and Ajax Cape Town respectively.
Khwela and Soumah were initially supposed to join on loan, but have since made permanent moves as TUKS had already exhausted their loan quota of three players, with Christopher Flandorp (Bidvest Wits) and the SuperSport duo of Karabo Masehela and Keeno Shellar on board.
Clubs are allowed to register a maximum of three loan players during every transfer window.
TUKS team manager Graham Oosthuis confirms that Khwela is already in the team that will travel to face Chippa United on Friday night at Phillipi Stadium.
“Pule [Khwela] will travel with the team to Cape Town, but Soumah will stay behind as he is still waiting for the issuing of his work-permit.
“Soumah actually joined us for training this week and both are permanent transfers as we are only allowed register three loan players, which we have already done. The two new players will give options in midfield and behind the strikers,” says Oosthuis.
Soumah has already been on loan to Ikapa Sporting and FC Cape Town before, but has now been sacrificed at Ikamva to open up a foreign space.
The 20-year-old started five games last season and came on as a substitute a further five times last season.
Khwela, also 20, has three substitute appearances to show from the 2007/08 season, and has spent time at Feyenoord in Holland.
