Yobo off to England

Posted: 2011-09-04 19:13

Joseph Yobo left the team immediately after helping the Super Eagles secure a 2-0 victory over Madagascar on Sunday.

Yobo is hoping to convince Everton to agree to another loan switch to Fenerbahce for a second year running.

The Turkish club want the big defender, but have baulked at Everton's asking price. The Nigerian is also keen to join the Turkish champions and is hoping he can convince Everton chairman Bill Kenwright to sanction a loan move before the Turkish transfer window closes at 10pm on Monday.

Yobo helped the Yello Canaries claim the title last term, scoring in the last game to secure the League crown.

He further underlined his value by scoring for Nigeria on Sunday in a difficult away tie, and told KickOffNigeria.com he hopes to have his future resolved by Monday.

Guinea beat Ethopia 1-0..................

The way it is right now.......i think if we beat Guinea by 1-0 we will top the group..........by beating them by a lone goal the final table would be:

GP pts W D L GF GA GD
Nig 6 13 4 1 1 11 3 +8

Gui 6 13 4 1 1 11 4 +7

Goal difference would be used: Naija would go............

Amata Plus: 2011-09-04 21:12

Go and sort your glorious future out. God is with you, Yobo. Those who expected SE to loose, so they can gloat over it are disappointed. Naija is too blessed to be messed up by the wicked wishes of her enemies. LET'S CELEBRATE!

Toluwase: 2011-09-04 21:19

Guinea had 13pts +8

Nigeria had 10pts +7

1-0 is enough for Nigeria in Abuja to top the group.
So Nigeria will now have 13pts +8 to Guinea 13pts +7

Olatunbosun: 2011-09-04 21:24

@Tartan, All we need is to win with at least a goal margin. With what I have gathered so far a 13 points will give both of us passage with authomatic qualification and best second place. I dont think any would be second place team can make 13 points.

God bless Siaone.
God bless super eagles.
God Bless Nigeria

Toluwase: 2011-09-04 21:26

@Tartan, I never thought of 2-1 you know. If we should win by 2-1 Guinea will qualify on head to head rule but 1-0,2-0 and 3-1 above is ok.

Olatunbosun: 2011-09-04 21:27

I just saw that Ghana and Sudan are on 13 points tho they will play together in the final match

ken gadaffi: 2011-09-04 21:34

Nigeria should do all they can to qualify for the Nations cup. with the big guns likely to miss out, this will be our biggest chance to win the trophy again after nearly 18 years.
We can make it through the best losers as long as we avoid defeat on october 7th hence its now back in our hands

Good luck to Eagles

THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH

Toluwase: 2011-09-04 21:57

From my own calculations, nothing whatsoever can stop Guinea,Sudan and Ghana. They've all got 13pts and no country can get up to 13pts apart from Nigeria. And only 2 best 2nds can qualify.Nigeria must avoid a defeat unless we are out.

Nugzy: 2011-09-04 22:10

I'm a nigerian and i wish ghanians the best in the final group game. All this beef is getting stale. Our skin looks the same to me. I'm particularly looking forward to the battle between South America and Africa Part one and two. Part one is Brazil versus Ghana. Part two is Argentina Versus Nigeria. Hope africa wins both games. Cheers.

Mimi: 2011-09-04 22:40

We should not jump into conclusions about the automatic qualifications of some teams based on the fact that they have garnered 13 points.

According to CAF regulations, only the top teams automatically qualify and the 2 best 2nd placed teams will be decided after all the groups have been equalized to 3 team groups, i.e apart from the group that presently has only 3 teams, all other groups will be reduced to 3 teams by the elimination of the bottom placed teams in these groups. Consequently, all the earlier results against these eliminated bottom placed teams will be lost.

For e.g, in Nigeria's group, assuming Nigeria tops, with Guinea 2nd and Madagascar last; Guinea will now be on 9 points (13 minus 4) since they beat Madagascar at home and drew with them away. Second placed teams will be hoping that teams that they got good 2 results against, home and away, do not place last so that they do not lose those results.

Pardon me for the long post...just wanted to inform those that do not yet know. Cheers.

Nigeria beach soccer team in the ongoing beach world soccer fifa tournament comes from behind to beat Venezuelan 5-3 ,,the beach naija soccer team whom lost woefully to Russia 8-4 three days ago;; put all that behind them to get a vital point against the Venezuelans

uga: 2011-09-05 02:28

You guys, i been watching this beach soccer thing men. I really think Nigeria should be able to host the beach soccer world cup.It wouldn't be too hard to maintain those sandy pitches. Also I can't believe an African team can lose to an European team on a sandy pitch men.

the 2-0 scoreline is a reflection of where Nigerian football is going.i think it's heading to the wrong direction.struggling to qualify from a group that includes Ethiopia, madagascar and guinea.shame on the so called super eagles.

Polly: 2011-09-05 06:59

For Yobo to even play this match, just a day before the transfer deadline, is unbelievable. How many times has this guy saved us in difficult away games with his leadership and goals? I watched the match and the Madagascans could have scored before us. With our goalie beaten, Yobo made the block of his life to save us. To me, that block was as important as the goal as our heads would have bowed if they scored at that point (around the 60, 65 minutes mark).

I remember that the problem he had with the Everton coach began when he chose to play for Nigeria at the Afcon against the Everton Medical staff advice as he was just recovering from injury. He came back aggravating the injury after just one match when Everton were down to just one fit central defender in their first team. Moyes never forgave him. I posted at that time that Amodu was to blame as he should never had invited him considering his situation.

I am giving this narration to remind us of the sacrifices that most of players make to satisfy us but we do not always remember. If Yobo plays just one bad match for us tomorrow, we will start abusing him. Any one that watched the match will agree that for our players (especially Anichebe) to even play on that pitch needs a lot of commendation. Those guys could have ended their career on that pitch.

Let us always remember the sacrifices these guys made for us when the inevitable drop in form comes along.

These calculations are not my forte. Nigeria will qualify and Ghana will qualify. Guinea and Sudan are no contenders at all.

9ja Guy: 2011-09-05 08:20

El Captain Yobo in the rescue, from attacting player to central defender, still love to come for set pieces great work i wish you all the best to settle soon in a club that you want.

mattdayomi: 2011-09-05 13:52

So captain Yobo has gone back to the UK to arrange his future at Fernebahce in the lower division OR are they being retained in the premier division after all the match-fixings? He has always given his all when donning the green-white-green. Can't say the same for the others, though. TIME FOR REAL DEFENDERS TO STAND UP AND BE COUNTED if we are to avoid a 5-0 drubbing! Hope that Siasia knows that he is about to meet Argentina and NOT the malgaches again. Let "his stars" show up and be counted this time to shed sweat for the nation and not be unconcerned strollers on the pitch. Did he see the Uruguayans at the Copa America? Playing as if it mattered, that's what!

sallymon: 2011-09-06 16:11

Siaone is on track and the NFF should do everybody a favour and don't interfere with his selection. This is a new era of football and all they should be doing is putting in every effort in assisting him.Carry go Eagles our prayers are for you people to make us happy again.

sallymon: 2011-09-06 16:13

God be with you Yobo and Everton will give you your heart desire
