Siasia credits players after win over Madagascar

Siasia credits players

Posted: 2011-09-04 19:05

Samson Siasia has given the credit for Sunday's 2-0 victory over Madagascar to a good performance from his players despite bad conditions.

The Super Eagles overcame atrocious playing conditions to triumph in the last 20 minutes, with goals from skipper Joseph Yobo and a sensational effort from Obinna Nsofor sealing a much-needed win.

But despite making a timely tactical switch to account for the bad turf, Siasia refused to take the credit.

"I just want to say thank you to the players. They did very well because it is not easy playing under these kind of conditions.

"But they did not panic, they did not lose focus and they did everything we asked them to do, even when things were not going our way in the first half," Siasia says.

Captain Yobo again came up big, scoring the opening goal after 68 minutes, and his coach had plenty of praise for him

"He is a real leader. He was always there in the box for set pieces and corner kicks and he kept giving them problems with his ability in the air."

The victory takes Nigeria level on points with group leaders Guinea, who play later in the day.

If, as expected, the Guineans beat Ethiopia in their game, the battle for the ticket to the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations will come down to the final day, where the Super Eagles will need to beat their West African neighbours by at least two goals to top the group on head to head.

I think we have a great chance now.the match btw guinea and ethiopia has ended and it is 1-0 in favour of guinea.as it stands we need just a lone goal win to qualify cos then,we will be on +8 while guinea goes back to +7 with same number of points.Best of luck SE and Sia1

Weldone to Super eagles of Nigeria.

With the Victory of Nigeria Against Madagascar and Guinea seeing off Ethiopia by a lone goal, Nigeria will qualify if She beats Guinea by 2 goal.

@Billion fake and original you are back at the right time to witness the downfall of your critsm. Have told u from day 1 before i sent you out of this forum that you will be ashamed in the long run because Nigeria will Qualify for nations Cup as long as SIASIA is in Charge.
%Gadaffi, your comment is not needed. However Nigeria only need a lone goal to qualify and not 2 goals ok. You and your remaining haters will be put to shame by next month by the time we starts the Celebration.

I remember, during the last stages of the 2010 world cup qualifying campaign, most forumites here criticised Amodu while some even wrote off the ticket completely with some saying we should forget SA2010 and focus on Bra2014 instead. Very few people commended and praised Amodu, insisting that Nigeria will still qualify. Prominent among them were 2 names: Billion and Ken Gadaffi: Now, with Siasia in charge most forumites are commending and praising Siasia and very confident about qualifying for the AFCON2012. Very few people are criticising Siasia and expressing apprehension about Nigeria's qualification. Prominent among them are 2 names: Billion and Ken Gadaffi.

Well: "SIASIA STAYS"; and "Faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for, the EVIDENT demonstration of realities though not beheld". The record of Siasia so far (which is evident demonstration), inspires faith that Nigeria will qualify. To believe is to achieve, let us believe and then encourage and support Siasia so as to achieve qualification and then the Nations Cup itself.
