Siasia changes training plan over pitch

Posted: 2011-09-02 20:58

Samson Siasia took one look at the training pitch in Antananarivo and immediately changed his training programme for the day on Thursday.

Patches everywhere, bumps in other areas, and even holes in places had the Super Eagles coach shaking his head in despair.

And after consulting with his assistants, Siasia promptly changed the training schedule. Rather than have the boys do any serious ball work, they focused on fitness drills and a dynamics session.

That was followed by a head tennis keepy-uppy session, and round off with the team breaking up into two groups to compete in foot tennis.

"This is a really bad pitch, but it is similar to what we will find in the main stadium, so we have to make the best use of a bad situation," Siasia said. "Thank God we came early so we could experience this.

"You can't play good football on a pitch like this."

The squad will hold their first session on the match day pitch on Saturday afternoon.

The game comes up at 14h30 local time (12h30 Nigeria time) on Sunday.

Thank God Siaone discovered it on time. However, I must have to advise that such situation would have been better handled with most of our local league players. If 45% of the players are from local league, I assure you there would be no pitch that would ddefy their experience unlike the Euro based players who might have forgotten the experience of a bad pitch. Howbeit, experience will play a big role in humbling the Madagaster team.
I wish the team all the best as they conquer their opponent on Sunday.

this my African continent is always full of nonsense CAF is a stupid organization ,how can a pitch for an international caf organize match look like this were on earth will u find such a disgustful pitch in Europe or even in south America,, Africa always show the world a wrong side instead of positive side stupid CAF

Philosopher`: 2011-09-03 02:35

Caf must do something urgent about this re-occuring issue. They should organise a body that will be charged with the responsibility of inspecting various stadiums that will be used for qualification. If any stadium is in bad condition, the game will be shifted to the neghbouring countries.

Richie: 2011-09-03 08:20

@Philosopher: I concur. Therefore, I'll personally send an official letter to CAF since I'm not sure they read comments posted on this forum.

@munasinge,point of correctn,we dnt ve a pitch in a state lyk dat dat stl host d premier lge in naija.@Haram,u no well o,see ur face lyk monkey wey lick lime.Eagles abeg help dem manage d pitch.Eagles! Insurance!! Chelsea!!! 4ward eva 4 una

Femi: 2011-09-03 09:17

I hope the SE don't take things for granted and muddle up this great opportunity. And as for the Nigeria/Argentina game, Naija should win that match. I wasn't too impress with Argentina against the Venezuela team (that ended 1-0 in favor of Argentina). Too many 1-2 touch ball passes with very poor marksmanship. If Nigeria plays attacking football, they should win 2-0. @Philosopher, you want Caf to appoint a team to inspect stadiums around the continent? You've got to be kidding me! That would make too much sense for African's football organization and those people don't use sense in conducting business. Good idea but you are expecting too much from a bunch of morons.

ken gadaffi: 2011-09-03 10:19

I was having a feeling that the SE will spank Madagascar with a wide margin but feelers from the SE camp makes me feel even 1-0 will do.
May God help Nigeria.

Xhuxhu: 2011-09-03 12:36

IT SHOULD BE A MUST WIN GAME&D TECHNICAL CREW N D PLAYERS SHOULD TREAT THIS GAME THUS.

harryson: 2011-09-03 13:55

dear luise-hero,i agree with you completely in regards your comment because caf is doing definitely nothing to send inspection teams to see to all facilities meant for international games before approval. There should be a remedy to this nonsence from isa hayatou and his co-horts.Now we have to pray for the mercy of God so that we can be lucky over this under 23 madagascar team.We wish the eagles all the best and we will win come sunday.

These players started their career playing on a bad pitch so they need to stop complaining the other team will play on the same field. Afterall that is Africa and they should expect it. As a matter of fact these players should stp complaining about everything and play football which is why they were invited.
On the issue of plane, I think the players were correct that Nigeria can afford to provide them with a plane that can fly directly to Madagascar but were wrong in staging a strike it is unprofessional.

alipanks: 2011-09-03 16:35
