Moriri to compete with Nyandoro

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Surprise Moriri will compete with Esrom Nyandoro in midfield

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Surprise Moriri will compete with Esrom Nyandoro for the holding midfielder role at Chloorkop this season.

This was revealed by Sundowns coach Johan Neeskens after the MTN8 quarter-final win against Bloemfontein Celtic at Lucas Moripe Stadium at the weekend.   Moriri was deployed in an unfamiliar position in front of the Sundowns defence but, despite this, performed very well.    Long-serving midfielder Nyandoro sat on the bench, and the captain's armband was passed on to Method Mwanjale, who also had a storming game for the Brazilians.   Speaking KickOff.com after the game, Neeskens was full of praise for Moriri and said he will continue playing his in that position.   "He played there during the pre-season and did well. I was happy again with his performance on Saturday and he will compete for the same position with Nyandoro this season."   The Dutch coach also revealed that midfielder Lionel Mutizwa will undergo a scan on August 12 to determine the severity of his injury.

I WAS ALSO IMPRESSED WITH MORIRI'S PERFORMANCE THAT'S WHAT IS NEEDED FROM A HOLDING MIDFIELDER HE MUST BE A BALL PLAYER, NOT JUST A PERSON WHO WILL JUST STAND THERE WITHOUT CREATING SCORING CHANCES. CLASSIC SURPRISE CLASSICO!!

I love to see Moriri getting to play that position coz the guy has the ability to control the games tempo and he wont a holding midfielder but can add an attaking option. May the best man prevail. Sundowns supporter till chiefs burn the FNB stadia

@Mafs and Fistones, in Moriri we talking about a multitalented, blessed, complete footballer.

I remember in one match against either your Strechmark XI or Barks when Surprise volunteered to mind the goals after our keeper got injured with our sub's qouta exhausted....that's Masterpieces Matibidi for you maw'ngazi, there more involved he is, the better for abo Nyatamariser no S'jene.

As for u-Esrom, thanks for all my brother, you've reached the sky....now let gravity prevail ke! mh.

lol, Vhavhani!

@Gatya, Moriri is slow? mh. Why rush if you're on time? Are you saying Segolela always knows where he's rushing to? lol!

For instance, if it was in the 80's, Moriri would've been nicknamed 'Computer', and Segolela nicknamed 'Nogwaja' or 'Rabbit' if not 'Squirrel! tl tl tl!

Neesken is a man with a plan- not only does he want to win but he's building a real football team.
It makes sense to play Moriri in that position, while pace is not strength, his class in ball control as well as finding pelembe, teko and/or nyatama with a perfect pass with threaten the opposition.
Behind Moriri, our centre backs are quick enough to match any attacker's pace except maybe for tlou at pirates but though, a speedy player without brains is pretty much useless.
My team needs a serero-like player however 'm certain that Teko can fulfil such role as an attacking midfielder coming from the centre.
