Egyptian giants Zamalek have agreed in principle to play Ghana’s oldest club Hearts of Oak in November as part of their centenary celebrations.
The White Knights will be hosted by the Phobians at their Ohene Djan Stadium fortress in a ceremonial match that will spice up their 100th birthday celebrations.
According to the White Knights, the final decision rests on new coach and former tactician of the Pharaohs, Hassan Shehata and the team’s League fixtures.
Although the Phobians’ celebrations have been low-key, they have also agreed a partnership deal with UK-based sports law firm, Mel Goldberg Law, to find a reputable club in the English Premier League to play them that same month.
It is, however, not clear whether that deal will still hold following the Zamalek announcement.
The Rainbow Boys used to have a great presence in continental tournaments until their recent dip in form.
They won the CAF Champions League once in 2000 and the Confederation Cup in 2004.
