Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp says Bongani Khumalo’s loan deal to English Championship side Reading is all but completed.

The Bafana Bafana defender, who played all 90 minutes of Spurs’ 3-0 Vodacom Challenge Final defeat of Orlando Pirates on Saturday, has been tipped to go out on loan – and it seems Reading have now beaten the likes of Glasgow Rangers and Bristol City to the move.

“Yeah, it looks like it will happen,” Redknapp responded when asked by KickOff.com if the Reading move was completed. “We have the option of a recall in January, but it will be a good move for him. He’s a good lad.”

Redknapp says there are a few things counting against Khumalo in trying to make the Spurs first team.

“Look, he lacks experience. This is only his first year. Also, I have experienced defenders like Ledley King, William Gallas, Michael Dawson, Younes Kaboul, Sebastien Bassong … it’s will be difficult for him to get into the team.

“He will be much better off going out on loan to gain experience and adapt to the lifestyle in England. I’m sure in a year he will come back a better player for it; then it will be up to him to prove whether he is good enough to start for Spurs.”

Told you these Scottish teams are broke. All they ever do is "pretend" they want to sign quality players. Mphela is going on trial to Celtic is one big "con". Watch Celtic offer less than R17 million.

To 'arry Redknapp....Thanks for loaning out Bongani instead of letting him rot on the bench. Playing week in and week out is good for Bongani and Bafana.

Good decision coach. The boy is our future and more games wil make him better player. Not all coaches can be so loyal and honest about thier intension on da player so, I thank u coach 4 being realistic

u just signed a new player a foreigner for that matter and then u loan him out ?poor decesion making at its best, as Africans we need to start believing in our selves a bit.

You guys are not sharing the same dream as Bongani, he wants to learn, coming back to SA will not make him any good. He's still young, his got big dreams so let him fulfil them.... his destine for bigger things, looks like he will be one of the best diffenders in the near future.........I THING HE'S GOT GOOD PEOPLE ADVISING HIM, HE DOESNT REALLY NEED AN ADVISE FROM ANY OF US HERE.

they are not quality players, evidence shown at the 2010WC.

hence i still have so much respect for Bennie,Fortune and Pienaar.

Bongani is grounded player and will make it big in England one day.
