Parker was left out of the FC Twente squad that played Turkish giants Galatasaray on Wednesday, and it is believed he is being lined-up as a replacement for Gerndt by Helsingborgs. In fact, reports from Holland suggest he is in Sweden tonight.
The Swedish club’s sporting director, Jesper Jansson, told SPORT-Expressen: “I know about the player, but beyond that I cannot comment.”
Should the transfer come off, it would be a blow to Kaizer Chiefs’ attempts to lure the player to Naturena. Vladimir Vermezovic has told KickOff.com of his interest in the player, but Parker has long stated his desire to find a new club in Europe, with a return to the PSL deemed a last resort.
Should Parker join Helsingborgs he would team-up with compatriot May Mahlangu, who is the main playmaker in the team.
Helsingborgs will be playing in the Uefa Europa League this season, but do currently lead the Swedish League by three points just past the halfway mark of the campaign, which could mean Champions League football in 2012/13.
