Enyimba welcome Al Hilal to Aba

Posted: 2011-07-15 10:54

Nigeria’s Enyimba will begin their third attempt at winning the CAF Champions League with a visit from Al Hilal in Aba on Sunday.

The two-time winners plan to make it a tough game for their Sudanese opponents in the opening game of CAF’s continental showpiece on Sunday.

The Enyimba International Stadium, where many teams have struggled to make a statement in the past, will host the game.

Hilal coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredrojevic has said he knows the enormous task ahead of his team in Nigeria, even though they will go to try and poach a point from their road trip.

"We know we are playing against a team which will have a huge advantage of the home crowd – but we will use all possible means to expose weak points of their team and to try to get a good result," Sredrojevic told BBC Sport.

Enyimba won the League in 2003 and 2004 and will hope that 2011 is a more successful year. The other teams in Group A are Raja Casablanca and Coton Sport.

I think Orji Uzo Kalu was instrumental to the clubs successes in the days of their glory, now Enyimba is a shadow of it's former self. They may make certain impact but they are very far from being considered among the best in Africa at present.

If only they can avoid the win at home and lose away syndrom. If atall they want to continue with this attitude they should win very well at home with a wide margin so that at the end the aggregate can favour them.
